MANN ML-1008 2: Electric Boogaloo

Can anyone answer this for me? On rockauto.com, the info states that Mann filters use a silicone ADBV, while on the original Mann ML-1008 post, Chubbs1 said that it was nitrite.
I was just curious as to which was right, because if it was silicone, that would make the mann filter a suped up purolator classic as opposed to a straight clone.

Of the two Mann filters I have for my cars, only one has an ADBV, and it is black nitrile rubber. Both seem to be nothing more than Purolator Classic clones.

The Mann filter for your application that Rock Auto is selling may be a 'real' German-made one so it's entirely possible that the one they have is constructed differently.

Generally, the white ones are US-made Purolators and the black ones are made in Europe.

I have the ML1010 and ML1005 both have the black ADBV. Not sure what would make the ML1008 any different.

IMO, the adbv is nitrile not silicone, I believe RA has an incorrect description. I say this because the white Mann is made in USA, black is the color of the nitrile adbv used in Classic filters. Though color might not necessarily be an exact indicator of adbv type, I've never seen a silicone adbv colored black, always a reddish color. And, the standard nitrile adbv always is black. Just very doubtful to me Purolator is using two different color silicone adbv coming out of the same factory in NC.
