Major fuel brands not in your area?

Just wondering. Over the years, various major brands have exited the market in the San Francisco Bay Area, including Exxon, Mobil, BP, and Texaco. All of them used to be pretty common. I still see some of these brands in part of California, but not in specific large areas. I do remember when most Texaco stations started going away, there were still a few that just wouldn't go away, including one in Oakland with a big sign, and this small gas station I remember on the Stanford University campus - now a Valero station.

Quite a few of the major companies have never been here in my lifetime, including Sunoco, Marathon, or Sinclair. There's probably nothing preventing them from setting up and just buying fuel on the open market. Mobil still has a retail presence in parts of Northern California even though XOM has only one refinery in Southern California.

Chevron, Hess, Valero are not here. I wish Chevron was here due to their techron additive.

Texaco gas stations were acquired by Chevron, no?

Mobil
BP
Shell
Marathon
Thontons
Speedway
Meijer
and very few Philips 66

i miss living out west where we had Chevron/Texaco, Sinclair, and 76

ConocoPhilips, 76, Flying J, and minimal if any Chevron out this way.

Must again tell myself "Gas is not gas is not gas" (though it is all federally mandated to be 87, 89, 93...)

Mobil is by far the most common around MA. Hess, BP, Shell, Gulf (at Cumberland Farms) and Citgo are pretty common. You can find a few Sunoco and even a couple of Chevron.

I haven't seen Texaco is about 15 years.

In the Kansas City Area there are no Exxon, Chevron, Mobil, Sunoco, Texaco(used to be),Hess, Murphy, Arco, and very few Valero, Sinclair, BP, and Shell. In this area the gas is controlled by Phillips 66/Conoco and their ethanol companion Zarco 66. They control the pricing and have lots of C-store chains including Quik Trip under their control. I buy as little from them as possible from them. My vehicles will get about 2 more MPG using Shell and BP as I feel they have less ethanol in them. Even the non top-tier gas at my grocery store chain and Casey's General Stores (comes out of Iowa) seems to provide better MPG than the heavy ethanol swill.

I wish each station would specify exactly how much ethanol in each grade..rather than "up to x percent"

In my specific Area my favorite station is Shell, and really the only big name station we have anymore. A few scattered BP's other than that a-lot of Marathons and Speedways. I usually Fuel up at shell, and Kroger when we have Kroger points for discounted gas.

I wish we had some Exxons and Chevron stations in my area.. I was geeking out when I went up in the middle of Ohio when I was able to fill up at a Exxon Station, my wife was not as excited

We're rife with Citgo, Irving, Gulf, Valero.

Few Mobil, Exxon, Shell, Sunoco.

Go 100 miles and bump into Hess.

Haven't in years seen a Chevron. Texacos bolted about ten years back.

Never seen an Arco, Conoco.

The only major gas stations we have this far north is Mobil and Sunoco. There's a few Valeros. Go to Syracuse (150 mile drive one way) and you'll find a Hess or two. South of there you'll find Shell and BP and the usual truck stops. Sunocos afe filled by Sunoco trucks. The Mobils are filed by a third party company.

Phillip66/conoco and Kum and Go have about 70% of the market, Caseys general stores are growing fast, on the highways youll see the occasional shell or BP .

No xom or chevrons here .....

There are only a few Gulf stations here. Saw many in Houston but almost none here. There are more Phillips 66 stations than Gulf and that's not many.

BP and Citgo are gone. Closest Citgo I can think of is halfway to Houston on I-45

Used a couple in Arkansas and St Louis On the Run convenience stores sell Mobil gasoline. In Arkansas, you also see Exxon branded stations.

Chevron pulled out a few years ago, you can go to Wikipedia and read about Chevron leaving the East Coast.....and I, like others miss them.
