Major engine work - 1st short OCI recommended?

I've never really thought about it but I wonder if the large cold cylinder to piston clearances of the GN make it easier for the rings to move.... when cold. With the gapless rings it has now, it's really a non issue.

Bet if you install a pistion/rings all lined up they will come out that way.If otherwise there would be no instructions to a proper stagger.


I always staggered piston rings. The last thing you want is an oil burning, plug fouling engine after a rebuild.
