M1HM 0w20 now has dexos1Gen3 approval

I would expect since Mobil Oil has a marketing agreement with GM that they would easily meet/exceed and requirements for GM vehicles...I guess people can believe what they want to believe

Apparently, GM is better at coming up with stringent motor oil specifications and profiting from them than it is at manufacturing quality, long-lasting vehicles.

They make some, but the bulk of them, those that most people can afford, are not very well designed or built.
BS. I've had GM cars all my life. I never had a bad one. Not one. Never a lemon. Never one that wore out prematurely. Never one that wasn't dependable and reliable. Here's the list: 1982 Chevy Chevette, 1983 Pontiac J2000, 1986 Pontiac Firebird, 1990 Pontiac Sunbird, 1993 Chevy Blazer, 1999 Chevy Silverado, 2002 Chevy Tahoe, 2004 Chevy Suburban, 2006 Chevy Express, 2008 Chevy Express, 2008 Buick Enclave, and now a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette.

My Dad had too many GM cars to count. He was a GM engineer and had GM cars since 1946. He had many of them for long runs, but in later years had company cars, usually 4 or 5 of them a year and they were a good sample from across the product line. Never a bad one. Never a serious problem with any of them.

My 99 Silverado, btw, currently is owned by my former secretary's nephew. It is pushing close to 400k on the original 5.3 engine. It has a lot of rust, but still runs well. It would be impossible to convince me that that truck was anything less than a stellar design.

GM bashing is great bar stool and internet forum sport, and that's about what it is worth.

You should most likely try some of their vehicles from this decade, like:
💩Chevy Equinox
💩Chevy Blazer (yes, it's a front wheel drive compact CUV)
💩Chevy Malibu (tiny 1.5 Turbo four-banger-fail + CVT = junk)
💩Plenty of lifter issues with their V8 engines. I can't imagine having a GMC or Chevy truck with 20K or less on the odometer with a grenaded engine because one or more Made in China lifters soiled the bed.
💩All the electronics that GM puts in their vehicles are cheaply Made in China components. China is perfectly capable of making quality products, but quality costs money, and GM wants parts for something and nothing.

🤷‍♂️ So I don't know... They have plenty of other problems, but I wanted to keep it short. I'm happy that you had a good experience with their vehicles, though I wonder why you never tried other brands.

The blazer isn’t a compact pos suv. A very good mid sized vehicle. My mother in laws Malibu has been flawless. My five GMC vehicles have been absolutely excellent.

Can’t say that about the Toyotas and Hondas I have owned.

I'm a Mopar guy and I owned a few Mazdas and Hyundais here and there. GM always seemed a bit to expensive , the value proposition wasn't there. Okay, I would love me a Cadillac Blackwing or a new Corvette, that's for sure. But every manufacturer makes some turds. Like the Dodge Hornet for example, what a joke that is.

I don't like neither Honda, nor Toyota. And lately, Toyota has been a reliability nightmare for their customers that purchased the turbo charged Tundras. They are not more reliable than other car makes, it's just that the older Toyota designs, due to their inherent simplicity, stood up better to neglect and people confused that with reliability.

no oil company has to get dexos licensing and approval...if it was just a money grab as some believe the oil companies could fight the "extortion"...
