for my 1.8L in the chevy cruze.

- do 50/50 city/highway per week, OCI of 10,000km
- Spirited driving, lots of high rpm, 5-6k rpm
- lots of stop and go, short tripper
- weather around 20 degrees this time of the year
- looking for the one that would benefit more fuel economy, if possible

Should I invest the extra bucks in M1?? or PP would be just fine?

Thanks!

Cheap PP at WM in my area is drying up.

Now they only carry full priced 5L jugs, when you used to get cheap jugs of only a slightly smaller format. 4.73L?

Glad I stocked up a bit, but I think the cheap Pennzoil days may be coming to an end, at least in Montreal.

I've noticed the same. Rollbacks aren't happening as often with shell products. I see Castrol more often now and I actually saw M1 for 25 a jug, which is unheard of here.
Glad I got those 15 jugs of ultra for 28 a jug when napa had it on special. The SN flavour too.
Once I get through my ultra stash I'm going to buy 5 gallon pails of devlac elite 222 0w30 and thin it with tgmo so my mds doesn't get too excited and throw a code.
Devlac is cheap from the distributor. Cheaper than Walmart on rollback.

No oil will help you save gas when you do this. PP or M1 are both good. Wont make any difference.

I'd take PP over standard M1 brews... but I'd opt for M1 in the AFE or EP versions over PP. Price would be the deal breaker. Either will take your engine longer than the rest of the vehicle is likely to last.

In every one of my family's vehicles where I've gotten UOA's comparing M1 with PP, the PP came out better. And it usually costs a little less.

When my Pennzoil stash is done, I plan on getting a flat of 12 1L Mazda 0W20 (Idemitsu) for my Honda Fit and our Mazda 3.

I get them at the local Mazda dealer for $6.50/L without having to haggle at all.

MAYBE if I get a flat of 12 they will reduce the price slightly?

Anyway, I have used Acura 0W20 SM (Idemitsu) in the past and it was the smoothest starting oil with the least valve train noise in colder weather, that is why I wouldn't hesitate with the Mazda 0W20. Although the SN may not be as good as the SM was.
