I emailed M1 to ask which protected better ( M1 or M1 EP). I simply said that my vehicle would only travel 3000 miles in one year (eliminating the need for an extended drain oil) and would like to have the better protecting product. They replied

"The Mobil1 EP motor oil is the best protecting product, both must be changed once a year however.

Would just like to share this with you guys.

I'd listen to tig on this one, since he's been using M1 on long drains since about the day it was introduced.
Can't argue with experience.
For 3K and 1 yr, though, why would you spend the $$$ for M1?

Mobil 1 probably doesn't even know where EP is specifically needed over the regular stuff because the marketing machine trundled into the war room on that one. :P

Wish more oils came in 0w30 at really high quality then anything.

I go with m1 over m1 ep and observe similiar miliage during a 1month time frame. Ep seems like overkill to drain after 3-5 k

The question was, which product protected better. ExxonMobil gave the correct answer.
