Blackstone: Low insol due to filter change at 4k.
TBN was 4.0. Lead made a big improvment. All wear metals at or below univ avgs. Low silicon shows good air filtration. We found no fuel, water or anti freeze in sample. Viscosity measured in correct range for a 5w-30. You could try 7000 miles for next sample and check back.

Flashpoint 390
SUS Visc. 59.5
Fuel < 0.5
Anti freeze 0.0
water 0.0
insolubles 0.2

This M1 used only FC20 and FP60 additives unlike the previous M7500 which also included vsot. A PF47 filter was used for the first 4k miles, after which the ST ecore for the remainder.
1/2 qt added at filter change.

I was looking at this oil in Walmart, but hesitated in buying until I saw a spec sheet.

Looks as good. Is this SL or SM though?

Looks like a good report. The viscosity held up well, ending at 10.1 cSt, and copper & iron are both at good levels for a GM 3.8L engine.

The fact that lead came down from a spike of 14 to 5 is probably the most significant part of the entire report, something to be happy about.

Thanks for giving us a glimpse of the new M1 5W-30 T&SUV. Looks very similar to the standard M1 offering.

I remember reviewing some Mobil 7500 UOAs and seeing lead a little bit high in a few of them. I was comtemplating going from M1 to 7500, but after a short search decided against it.

Hi

I bought a bunch of that stuff earlier this year as it was priced right, now it has all but disappeared from the shelves where i shop.

I think there is still about 8-10 qts of M7500 5w-30 out there to go with about 10 qts of M1, and 2 qts of M1 EP 10w-30. I have about 11 qts of GC some of which is being used next fill in June.

A brew of 3 qts M7500 10w-30 and 1.75 qts of M5000 10w-30 is in it right now. A few oz of VSOT was added to this.

I wont sample this brew but will do so again late summer early fall to see how the GC is doing.

Next year, Havoline will be used when M1 is done in the spring until GC time.

At the time I purchased it ( Feb), it was priced the same as reg. M1 5w-30. It is an SM.

I wasnt sure if there was an actual difference in the formula from reg M1 or not. It seems to have done well.

A brew of 3 qts M7500 10w-30 and 1 3/4 qts M5000 is in car now with a few oz of vsot.

GC is due in it no later than mid June.
