I just bought a 97 land cruiser (actually a Lexus LX 450, but it's the same rig), and want to service it. It has 82K miles on it. I run M1 0W-40 in my VW Passat and M1 10W-30 in my Dodge V-10 pickup. What oil in my cruiser? Manual recommends 5W-30 for temps below 100F. I would like one year round oil. Temps range for 10-20F lows in winter to 105F highs in summer.

I had a 93 land cruiser that I just sold, has the same engine as your 97. I used Mobil1 10w30 full synthetic year round from when I initially purchased it at 90,000 miles, until I sold it at 178,000 miles with no problems. 5w30 will shear, use the 10w30. I've also used the 10w30 in other cruiser engines, such as the 3Fe, and the 2f, with no problems. I plan on using mobil1 10w30 in my new tundra, once I get to 5000 miles. 2000 miles to go. Goo luck with the truck, its one of the best ever made!!!!!!!!!

Just use M1 5w30 year round in there, that viscosity of Mobil 1 works extremely well in Toyota engines, as evidenced on here by many stellar used oil analysis reports.

I would not be uncomfortable using any of the ones you have cited. I would also add Mobil One 5w40, aka., Delvac One Truck & SUV.

However in over 577,000 miles, I have been using Mobil One 5w30 (and 10w30 when 5w30 was not available) in 87(250k),91(95k),94(117K),96(60k),97(55k), Toyota Landcruiser's with 15,000 mile oil change intervals.

I would suggest you use either with a slight preference for 0w-40 M1. The 1fz likes a 40 weight oil and outside the US heavier than 30 weight oils are recommended. If you check there are several UOA's of these, which include two reports on mine with 0w-40 and another by raventai with 5w-40.

I would highly recommend you check out the landcruiser group ih8mud dot com.
