Wear was found slightly higher this run but the interval was further then M1 10w30. TBN is strong at 6.5 The only thing I'm not happy about is the lead. I think thats a bit high. I do think I drove slightly harder this time around, although not drastically. I went back and looked at my other UOA's and found that M1 10w30, Amsoil 10w30 and S2k did as well.

M1 0w-20 5,123 M1 10w30 3,800 Ams 10w30 4,700 Ams S2k 7,700

M1 0w-20 M1 10w30 Ams 10w30 Ams 0w-30

One thing for sure, I should start extending drains to at least 8k miles.

Nothing wrong with this report at all, it looks great! Notice how the oil has thickened up just into 30wt territory though too, interesting.

Looks like you forgot a digit on the phosphorus.

Doesn't look to bad. All of the oils show pretty much identical wear on a ppm/1000 mile basis so it becomes a cost issue now.

I'm going to post my other UOA's next to it so others can judge.

I feel confident in saying that a good dino like castrol or chevron would have given your toyota better or very similar wear numbers. Just a thought- you all may not agree with me. It seems like for a 5000 mile interval should be better.

I had a look at your Amsoil run and your wear numbers are nearly identical. It's hard to make a judgement on wear when the difference between the two oils is less than the margin-of-error of the lab.

Look at the wear metals on a per/1000 mile basis to see if the lead or other is up. IMO this is a great report. I rarely if ever see lead under 10. The trend is the important piece here

Spector is right, it seems the lead is the same for all of them at almost 1ppm per 1,000 miles. The Amsoil S2k was driven under easier conditions. As my car gets older, the harder I am on it bc I know it's time is comming. Not too smart, but thats what I do.

I wish I would have kept the mileage identical and conditions identical. Tough to do that though.

All of the oils did a good job. A large part of this is due in fact to the bullet proof design of this little engine. It does appear that in the information presented the 10W30 M1 and the 10W30 Amsoil did the best!

P.S. I wish I could claim I drive eaier some cycles and harder others. I consistently drive my vechiles like I just stole them! I do wait for them to warm up first though!

So true. The Amsoil S2k oil had a TBN of 6 at 7,700 which suggests what Tooslick said and that it will hold up better for longer drains then the ATM Amsoil. Just a little side note.

buster, That is one thing that has not impressed me about the S2k. It is so totaly unpredictable. We have seen this with Redline as well but Redline is known for this. The jury is still out on Redline.

Amsoil has solid reputation for being an inavator and consistency. The S2K has not been that impressive compared to previous accomplishments. I really expect more out of this oil then I do Redline. First it is about $2 more then Redline. Second it is being marketed as the be all end all oil. Third it is being sold by a company that used to lead the pack in N. America for inovation and consistency!! I also do not like the limited selection of weights!!

If memory serves me right the S3K has been much more consistent the S2K. The old school 10W30 and the 15W40 diesel oils have been by far the stand outs for consistency!
