If it is the first time running MMO in the oil, it may show more wear particles due to the cleaning. The second time should settle down though.

Well, count me in as a MMO user, currently on the 2nd tank. Too bad I did not keep a mileage log, but the engine seems to be a tad smoother especially at 1/5 to 3/4 throttle, but it could all be a placebo effect.

I am starting a log for my gas mileage, partly thanks to this discussion, so once I have a trend going, I can start experimenting with MMO dosage and it's effects on gas mileage.

Yeah if the numbers a bit higher it wouldn't concern me. I will see what they are, keep using MMO and follow up with another UOA at my next OCI of 15K KM (9K miles).

Good on you for keeping the Mileage log. It's really easy to do. Just mark down the Mileage and the Gallons used when you fill back up.

My engine is definitely quieter and smoother on MMO, there is no doubt and earlier in this thread I tried with/without the MMO a few times and there is a difference.

Too bad Z-Max has the "Performance you can feel" slogan trademarked.

I am going to keep an eye on my gas mileage since I was averaging about 20 m.p.g. on my El Camino and when I filled up today I got a mileage reading of 23 m.p.g.

The only changes are that I am running 3 ounces of MMO too 10 gallons verusus the 4 ounces too 10 gallons.

I also recently did an oil change, and my old oil filter was really loaded up with stuff.

I will keep everyone posted because I am skeptical about this mileage increase.

It is quite possible your engine is getting better mpg's on the 3 ounce dose of MMO. Some engines respond better to less of a dose than their one size fits all dose of 320:1. I think that Bitog members like to test things and experiment, where as other people might try the suggested dose, see little to no gain and then stop using it. OTOH anything less than 3 ounces in 10 gallons will probably do nothing.

The only way your oil filter will be heavier would be from adding MMO to the oil, and there would be a lot of sludge in the engine. I never heard of it removing sludge from the engine internals by adding it to gas? It might clean the combustion chamber, but fuel system cleaners are better at that, and even they don't fill oil filters with junk making them heavier. Have you changed brands of oil, or added something to the oil?

I don't know how many tanks in I am, but its a lot and the mileage is holding up consistently and the truck has never run better.

I'm sticking with MMO.

There are too many positive posts about MMO for any naysers here too say we are not telling the truth.

Fuel Injected cars need a maintenance dose of MMO because if there is any carbon or grit that gets in the fuel injectors you can have problems, replacing fuel injectors is not cheap.

The military has been using this product since the 1940's.

Carroll Shelby uses this product too. I am betting there is a lot of guys on this board who are using MMO in there gas and oil but they don't have the guts too say anything because they are afraid they will get slammed.

I can tell you why panthermike is getting better gas mileage, MMO is lubing everything in his fuel system and keeping things clean, which means his spark plugs are staying clean so he is getting better combustion.

If this product is being sold at Wal-Mart then you know it is selling like crazy, Wal-Mart does not put a product on the shelf too collect dust.

I say too the naysers, show me a post on the internet where MMO has caused harm too someone's engine when they used it in there oil or gas tank. I am gleefully waiting for the posts about any problems with using MMO.


Wow I just noticed this today, sorry. Anyway thanks for the kind words. I don't like to make recommendations unless I have tried something and felt it worked and might benefit other members. It actually seems like MMO is getting a following, and by some well respected members on this board. I'm happy about that! The more people that use a product the better it becomes.

We have some pretty creative members here, and I'm pretty sure members are going to make discoveries of their own and share them. I've already read about a few guys, myself included who have mixed MMO with TC-W3. My problem is I can't really offer any mpg figures since business has decreased along with my driving patterns. But I'm sure we're going to come up with more positive results, and other options and suggestions for uses and dosage. Tweaking the dose and testing is the way to get the most bang for the buck. As far as the nay-sayers, I try my best to ignore them.

I just changed the oil in my Santa Fe with 5w30 Amsoil ASL and a new EAO 20 filter. The oil had 10K KM (6K miles) and came out much darker looking than it normally does. Almost looks like Diesel oil.

I have only been using MMO in the fuel.

I'm sending the UOA to Terry and will see what effect MMO has on the oil just using it in the fuel.

I'm sure it will show excellent results!

Its probably the Pennzoil Platinum and the quart of MMO that I put in my oil awhile back. I also had a 4 ounce Maintenance Dose of auto-rx in there too.

Im pretty interested in this whole MMO following. I've never been one for fuel additives, other than Techron at each oil change.

What is it that MMO does in the fuel? Also, is it similar to what the Lucas UCL claims to do? I get where it may help with bad fuel, but what else would it be doing?

Read this whole thread and looking forward to what Terry has to say about it. I may use it in my fuel, but prob not in the oil.

What I like about MMO in the fuel is that it is thinner than Lucas UCL, and I feel this is more of a benefit in the winter time, when I used Lucas in the winter time I had to make sure it was warmed up, even warmed up it pours out slowly.

MMO lubes the entire fuel system, like the fuel pump, it is a great upper cylinder lubricant, it lubes the valve seals which keeps the spark plugs clean so you have easier starts and better combustion, this also helps with a slight increase in gas mileage.

I have noticed that both of my cars, one fuel injected and the other carburated are much more responsive, its a win win situation.

Lucas UCL goes for about $31.00 a gallon, you can pickup a quart of MMO from Wal-Mart for $3.50 a quart, 4 quarts equals a gallon so 4 quarts of MMO is $14.00, more than half the price of Lucas UCL.

I only noticed smoother running using Lucas UCL, I did not notice better responsiveness.

I did try Lucas awhile back on my Scion 2.4L yota engine, and I really believe it felt a little less harsh (ran more smooth) under acceleration. Does MMO have the same "smooth running" effect?

I do not know about Lube Control FP, believe me MMO will have the smooth running affect, but you may not notice this on the 1st tank with MMO in there, I noticed everything on the 3rd tank of gas with MMO in there, so after a few tanks of gas with a maintenance dose of MMO you should notice something.

I stopped using Lube Control FP because I got way better results with MMO.

I have been keeping Terry in the loop because he is a fan of FP and is also interested in seeing my UOA that I will be submitting tomorrow.

The anticipation is killing me. God I'm an oil geek!

How mant times have you posted today Steve, seriously did you ever see any benefit from the LubeControl FP.

I dunno. I think my counter is broken... It counts like a taxi-cab meter at a rip-off rate.

I saw slight performance increases and cleaner spark plugs but nothing to write home about and certainly not any real mileage benefit.

You could mix it with MMO when putting in the fuel. Will just add more lubrication to the top end.
