What's everyone's take on this, I really do not want too slam Carroll Shelby, but maybe he needs some money, didn't the FTC go after Z-Max or was it Prolong.

Although CS has been behind some great performing cars, his business ventures have been less than high performance. His "Series 1" seemed to be quite the debacle. I'm not saying it's all been his fault but his name has been put on a lot of products.

Here you go guys - results of a 3 step MMO experiment:

1) My GF's '97 Camry with 111,000 miles consistently smoked on a cold engine start-up before adding MMO to the gas and oil.

2) Added a pint of MMO to the oil and 3 oz to the gas a couple weeks ago and the cold start-up smoke went away!

3) A couple of non-MMO tanks of gas and a fresh oil change of Pennzoil YB & a Wix and I saw it blow blue smoke at start up again yesterday.

I guess now the real test will be to add the same dose of MMO to the gas and oil and see what happens with the smoke. My bet is it stops.

Yes - that is the plan.

It burns a bit of oil, so in a month when the oil level is down a little, I will do the same test over again.

If MMO can stop an engine with 372,000 miles from smoking on startup then it can help a car with 111,000 miles stop smoking on startup.

I-4 Camrys of that vintage are known to have valve guide issues, much as some early Ford 4.6L V-8s did. If MMO somehow seals the seals, great -- use it. A good HM oil might accomplish the same end without the need for MMO. Worth trying, IMO.

Good results!

I haven't had any noticeable results using M1 HM 10W-30 in reducing the cold start puffs of smoke in my '92 S-10 4.3L. I gave the oil over a year and 2K miles to do its thing, but no improvement, see this thread:

(this truck had the HM oil added last year at about 28K miles)

After reading the comments by tpitcher, I'm seriously considering trying some MMO in the crankcase, but a little reluctant, since this vehicle can sit for weeks at times with out being started. I already tried MMO in the fuel, but don't see a difference after one tank.

Note: this truck gets 80% of its use for short trips to Home Depot, etc, picking up supplies, not much highway use, so its hard to say if there has been any MPG increase after my first tank with MMO, using 4 Oz per 10 Gal.

PS: very interesting thread, I always thought of MMO as "snake oil".....

Put some in the Crank case and keep us posted... I'm sure it would do quite good.

Keep running it in the fuel, one tank may not be enough to see noticeable results...

Also a good long trip once/while would do that engine some good.

Tank 3: 31.0

Still liking the MMO!

More consistency;

Tank 4: 31.2mpg, the car is running great!

I like the half-turn of the key and the engine is running right away.

It's good stuff and I challenge all the Naysayers to prove otherwise!

I agree, I had tried MMO before for a couple of tanks and then stopped. Now after 4 tanks, this car will always get MMO.

I can't wait to do an oil change this weekend and then I will be sending in a UOA to see how the MMO affects my trend of numbers.

I bet you it's gonna be nice!

I'm guessing you're right, numbers should be perfectly fine. Heck, people running it in the sump haven't even had issues

The anticipation is killing me, and I can't sleep.

Well I can't sleep but that is because of something else...

It is safe to say the formula hasn't changed in a long time, the Turtle Wax people haven't changed it. The product is tested and they're certain it is harmless to the engine and cat converter.

BTW-I've made that list too

Boy, nothing destroys technology and mankind's advancements like a good old fashioned FIRE.
