I just pulled the trigger on one of these this morning. They are a Davidson's exclusive for their distribution only. They had been showing "A*", meaning allocated, (i.e. hard to get). Today I was having my coffee, and noticed they were showing 10 in stock. I ordered one immediately. I checked just 10 minutes later and they were all gone. They sold 10 of them in less than 10 minutes. For once I was at the right place at the right time.

It's the best of both worlds, and then some. It has the nice wood grips, plus the Target Sights. All in Stainless Steel. I don't care for the shallow "V" notch rear sight on the Hunter Model. And having a "1 Of 1,000" issue with the matching knife doesn't hurt either! I like Limited Edition guns. It sets them apart from the common production models you see out there. At least this one will be easy to clean with the new push button disassembly of the new Mark IV Models. The downside of Ruger Mark pistols has always been in the disassembly and frustrating reassembly of them. I'll most likely be picking it up Wednesday. Can't wait!! Here is a picture of the gun and matching serial numbered knife, and a You Tube video that shows the unboxing of one. Simply beautiful gun and knife!

Looks exactly like my MKII Government Competition with the mag release in the wrong spot and a hinge

I don't like how the easier takedown affected the looks with the lever and hinge.

Not sure if you've had a long-barrel Ruger but it is accurate and heavy.

This will keep my other 3 Ruger Mark pistols company. A Mark II Competition Target. A Mark II Bill Ruger NRA Endowment Model, (the last of the Mark II's built). And a Mark III Hunter.

I also have a Mark II Competition Target identical to yours, circa 2002. One of my favorite shooters.

Congrats on the Mark IV.

I love 'em (the Mark IVs)! I'm super interested now that they're making the 22/45 Lite in the Mark IV version. I sold my Mark III 22/45 Lite years ago and have regretted it. Nice purchase!

Walk in, fill out 4473, show your friendly dealer your CCW permit, hand over money, take home pistol.
I gotta move....

That's pretty much it. My FFL has me in and out in 5 to 10 minutes. If you buy from a place like Cabela's, it can mean a lot of waiting. They move a large amount of guns. Especially on weekends.

Yeah....living in America is good...

In Virginia, to buy a pistol, it's fill out the 4473, then hand over the cash.

That's it.

No CCW permit needed.

No background call in Virginia?

Here if you have a CCW you don't need to wait for the background phone call to clear. I've picked up a few guns from my LGS on my lunch 1/2 hour and that includes the 5 minute drive each way, and had time to spare!

If they come out with a tapered barrel in stainless I may get one. it can keep my Olympia and NEOS company on the 22 pistol shelf.

Jeff...the 4473 is the ATF form, and the NICS call is made on that.

Your background is checked on every purchase at a dealer. That's Federal law. Having a CCW shouldn't obviate that NICS call, because something might have happened since it was issued. They're still checking you, even with a CCW, because they still have to comply...

But VA doesn't require additional forms for pistols or rifles. No CCW, for example.

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=does+arizona+have+to+do+background+checks+to+buy+a+gun

"Arizona is not a point of contact state for the NICS. Arizona has no law requiring firearms dealers to initiate background checks prior to transferring a firearm. ... As a result, concealed weapon permit holders in Arizona are exempt from the federal background check requirement when purchasing a handgun."

The same is true here in Iowa. If you have a permit to buy handguns or a ccw, there is not NICS check call. Indeed, in Iowa you cannot get a handgun without either a CCW or that permit. NICS checks are for long guns only. On the 4473 they simply put down your CCW or permit to buy number.
