That's not an independent study, just advertising. The product in question might well be one of the better quality ones that is effective, but some of their claims are rather over the top. Cleaning gum from injectors is possible, but trying to remove carbon deposits is not so easy.

I like seafoam for vacuum lines but its never done anything for me as far as adding it to fuel. Worked great eliminating a tick in a dodge 3.0 in a minivan I had.
The recent thread that posted a seafoam reps comments makes me think twice about ever buying it again though.

You were real dirty and OD'd. Clogged the injectors with deposits from the tank. Can happen with any product. Why maintenance doses are the best method. Last tank of every oil change if your OCI is 7-8k, every other oil change if your OCI is 3-5k. Your spooked so your likely not doing anything now right?


+1 One reason why I start cleaning all of my new cars at 15000 miles. Start clean keep em clean.
