the other day i added some mos2 to my crankcase, and i can already sense a smoother, quieter engine. would it be safe to use something like this in an automatic transmission? the car is a 1997 grand am SE, 4 speed automatic. liqui-moly's website talks about using this product in gear oils, and has a brief statement about using it in the transmission. has anyone done this?

If you want to make your transmission start to slip, pour it right in. The website you refer to also says to use oil with a specific coefficient of friction. Moly will change that coefficient and your transmission will not work correctly.

+1 to SVT.
Small amounts can be tolerated, and will even help in some areas.
But the TOTAL picture must be viewed - the whole package.
I would not intentionally put any in the auto transmission.

BTW, I love the Lubro Moly in my engine!
