LSjr Tests VOA of 20 yr old Valvoline & 40 yr old Mobil 1 Oil. HPL tests Anti-Foam in Gear Oil.

As I pretty clearly stated I have nothing against Lake Speed Jr or his dad and family. I enjoy his videos. He asks some cool questions actually. It is the same with anything. Retain the right to critical thought.

And I get it - he has to condense and reduce or every video would be even longer. But he should more often say when and why he is doing so. I think he would be a better tribologist for it. As in mentioning other possibilities than his seemingly hard conclusions.

I’m also sure he’s a very nice guy and knowledgeable. But just like with any other YouTube content creator it’s all about views/sales and marketing. The presented information may or may not be good.

While more views are always a good thing, he's not doing this just for views. He's passionate about oil and friction and enjoys substantial discussion. Hanging out with him in person, he will talk your ear off. lol The main reason he started Speediagnostix was to have one on one discussion with people over their oil analysis and go beyond the benighted comments of a rookie lab tech.

@High Performance Lubricants I would be grateful if you would run a foam test on Rotella T6 5W40 and your equivalent HDEO. This might shed some light on the Rotella comments.

Already done. 50-55 ml vs 0-1 ml

Rotella T6 5W-40 vs HPL HDMO 5W-40 D892.webp

As should any motor oil claiming to meet this test.

Not a particularly high barrier
I hope you're having a great day! I was wondering if you might have some data available on how AMSOIL Signature Series performs in the foam test, specifically for the 0W-20 and 5W-30 viscosities. I'm very interested in learning more about these products. Thank you so much for your help and time in advance.

ASTM D892. Pass and pass. I don't have pretty pictures of all oils and lubricants in the foam tester.
