LSJR Boutique vs OTS shootout

Lake tests multiple boutique oils vs Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and Mobil 1 Truck and SUV! This time it’s not just wear metals! Lab testing was also completed. No oil dominated every category as each had strong points. IMO Pennzoil Ultra Platinum held it’s own for the king of cost. AMSOIL Signature Series did amazing in most of the categories and possibly an overall win, HPL crushed some categories and Driven was a clear racing oil. I tried to screen shot as many graphs as I could but didn’t get them all.

The testing goes way beyond taking oil samples. He also tests oil vs water temps' delta, KRL shear, Torque, TEOST, followed up with an oil cost comparison.

In summary: "When it comes to engine oils, there isn't one best oil. All of these oils have different characteristics, and depending on what your application is, one of the chemistries here might be better for you".

Couldn’t agree more.

I’ll pause while the “five bucks is five bucks, so get the cheapest” crowd warms up their replies.

HPL, Driven and RL would not meet the 30mg threshold for TEOST. The RL TEOST results are similar to what Amsoil found. Actually RL results are off the charts bad. Would you run that oil in a turbo? I don't know. I know the TEOST isn't everything, but it is a test.

"The maximum mg limit for a TEOST test (Thermo-Oxidation Engine Oil Simulation Test) varies by specification, but common limits are around 30-35 mg for modern API/ILSAC oils (like GF-5), while older specs might allow up to 60 mg, and newer ones push for even lower deposits (like 25 mg) to protect turbos"

Where are all the Lake haters now? 3...2...1 "Yeah but......." :ROFLMAO:

Where are the lighting experts that are going to claim the light wasn't at the right angle for these tests?

What about the API licensed oils doing better than boutique in the TEOST? "Yeah but....."

This was one of his better vids. He even mentioned wear metals are basically the same. Which is what he should be saying in his other ranking vids.

Napa full syn no longer the boutique killer?🤣
