LSJR blends up a custom oil in the lab

Just take Lee's approach and don't worry about who is saying what.

I'm not gonna bother with watching the video. I'm sure its a YouTube influencer. But I will defend him a little on the Wix oil filter:
1) Not all Wix filters are bad. Out of three I recently cut up, the Wix had the only center tube with actual holes for oil flow. The rest (even the Baldwin which hurts) had those stupid divots with 1/2 not fully open.
2) Its nearly impossible (unless your a BITOGer) to stay on top of the filter game. Maybe some folks will say he should be an expert here, but I'll be the first one to admit: I've cut up a few filters recently and haven't really loved any. M/H Wix that I have had in hand have not been any better or worse than the rest.

Yes, unless you’re in the trenches it’s hard to keep up. Those of us here that cut filters on the regular or pay attention to the oil filter section know who the repeat offenders are.

Hmm. It was my understanding that formerly made by Wix; Napa Golds, are mostly made by PGI now.

Wix makes Wix; afaik, although owned by Mann Hummel (same as Purolator?)
Yes around 2016 M+H purchased Wix and unfortunately integrated Purolator designs(consolidation). Napa dropped M+H(Wix) for obvious reasons. PGI is making Napa Gold filters now which are very nice!

It's easier to just stick to OE or one of the more trusted re-branders (NAPA Gold). Keeping track of who is manufacturing which filters in which country even on this forum is sisyphean. Let alone which are worth using.

In his case, I really doubt it's anything more than "this has always worked for me" and the interest ended there. His background is mostly racing, where super efficient filtration is mostly an afterthought.

Anyone who has been using NAPA Gold filters for a long time has been in luck because they were Wix made filters during the time that Wix was higher quality and now they’re PG made and are still one of the highest quality filters made.

Sticking to OE has never been my cup of tea. AC Delco filters have always been pretty mediocre (other than the old Ultraguard Gold ones from 25 years ago) and I have never been impressed with Honda OE filters either. So I gave my Corvettes and Civics of the past 15 years better quality filters than OE.
