I had extreme pain in my abdomen nearly a decade ago. This was my first time going to the ER. I was in so much pain that I missed my call because I was in the bathroom puking. I basically crawled out, they saw how bad I was getting and I was seen within 5 min (felt like hours!!!)
The dr who saw me ordered some scans l, though I was on pain meds and starting to pass out by the time the dr came out to tell me that the scans looked fine. He ONLY decided to keep me because I was in so much pain and he didn’t know why.
I passed out until that night. I had a friend help me scribble my sig on some form, allowing them to do emergency exploratory surgery. I woke up late the next morning with over a dozen staples holding my guts in.
The surgeon didn’t know what was wrong, either, but I was slipping in and out of consciousness. She could have waited for the next shift or observed me for the rest of the night. Had she done that, there’s a very small possibility that Incould have gone septic and died, with a much higher possibility of moderate to major complications.
So no, the OPs Dr May not know what’s specifically wrong with him, if he’s not as symptomatic as I was. With that said, Drs are very busy people. So, unless they grew up around vehicles or machinery, they likely no jack squat about oil. Kind of a bad analogy, I agree.

Right, because you will be evacuating your bowels whether you're close to the can or not.
I've had a colonoscopy, and it isn't a big deal. You're unconscious for the demeaning parts anyway. Decades ago, I had a lower GI, and they gave me something called Fleet's Phospho-Soda, which tasted like carbonated death, but the stuff you have to drink now is more like Kool-Aid. If you're over 50, you should probably have a colonoscopy anyway.
You could also have an impacted stool, which can be very unpleasant. The place you're describing is in the area of the sigmoid colon, which can have various bad things happen to it.

I suffered from a rapid appendicitis attack when I was 7 or 8. Lower, right hand area & pain from there to middle.
A favorite uncle died from it due to complications when he was mis-diagnosed by some intern at some hospital's ER though. What a shame. He was a great guy and an AF Colonel. One of his daughters was never the same after that. Had some sort of emotional/mental collapse. That made it a double shame.
So you saw a doc the day after and they didn't have a clue? Weird....
A favorite uncle died from it due to complications when he was mis-diagnosed by some intern at some hospital's ER though. What a shame. He was a great guy and an AF Colonel. One of his daughters was never the same after that. Had some sort of emotional/mental collapse. That made it a double shame.

My sister checked into the doctor's office because of abdominal pain and they found cancer that has (so far) just laughed at the harsh chemo treatments.
Surgery has been ruled out and radiation will probably be next.

I'd like to say thank you to everyone. I am definitely pursuing more doc visits ect it hasn't gotten worse but hasn't gotten better either. very weird. In regards to cancer I'm also fighting a brain tumor it's inoperable but is shrinking. I take cannabis oil for it and it's been a miracle for me.
I look forward to CT scan and seeing what they find out. I'm using the bathroom ok and everything else is ok so it's weird to me to have this pain. I've had some minor bouts of nausea today but I was able to kinda push through that. But if I move wrong or for example lean back it'll hurt very bad. I've had a hernia before when I was 6yrs old. My hernia was in that area but they say I don't currently have a hernia but the scan will be much more definitive than a pretty nurse pushing on my abdomen. And I'm only 26 so yea never experienced the colonoscopy thing and yea it doesn't sound like something I'd want to have to experience. But I guess everyone does it eventually. Ugh

About 20 years ago I was having lower right abdominal pain, off and on, which would last for days and sometimes weeks. It was sometimes so bad that I couldn't wear a seat belt while driving or even button my pants at times. My Doc sent me in for everything from an ultrasound to a bladder scope to a colonoscopy. Everything was good. Doc said I probably had IBS and told me to watch my diet. I had to go through these bouts of pain for another year before I finally gave my Doc the boot and went to someone else. My new Doc immediately sent me for a simple x-ray, a KUB, and there it was, a 12mm stone in my right kidney. The pain never presented itself in the usual places for a stone, around the side or lower back, but was always in front about 2 inches to the right and 1 inch below my belly button. The next month I went in to have the stone broken up with lithotripsy and the pain was gone and never returned.

I would have never figured out that magnatec has a unique molecular structure that helps lubricate engine parts even when not running not unlike that of the Corinthian Wombat without the advice of my doctor. And I helped him diagnose that he had a disease caused by the bite of, oddly enough, a Corinthian Wombat
I've had IBS off and on for years. Never the same twice, which oddly somewhat reassuring: a few times I thought appendix, but whenever it moves around, I realize what it is and just live with it. Librax (or its generic) seems to work well enough for me as has trying to keep stress in check.
