Took the ford in for a drive thru VIOC service, and they noted 290 cold cranking amps on the battery.

However voltage is fine.

Location is San Antonio TX. They recommended battery replacement.

Battery is walmart everstart with a date code 12/2019. Probably installed 2020 early.

Is this something that should be replaced right away or wait a month or so?

Original cranking amps is 590 I believe.

I have one of the small battery jump starters in every car. It has come in handy when lights were left on or battery was on the way out. Not many people are willing to help if they see you with hood up anymore. They MIGHT ask but then don't have regular cables (if you don't) and don't want to risk damage to their own cars.

My son's battery was testing bad, I ordered the replacement at Costco but was 2-3 days before it came. He needed to use his jump starter 2-3 times during that.

I loaned someone my cables once as I was late running into work and could not help them with the task. They hooked them up backwards on their friends car who was willing to help. Blew some fuses etc. They then tried to blame me saying cables were bad.

I had an alternator go bad right after helping my brother-in-law with a not well maintained vehicle and bad battery. Probably coincidence but......

Thanks. I threw a new battery in it, had the day off yesterday. About 90 minutes to take off the wipers/cowel, take the old battery out, clean terminals. Fit new battery and install.
Reset the battery module using forscan and re-aimed the wipers.

$108 at walmart, 2 year warranty.

You could have waited a month, but in TCO of a battery, waiting just a month doesn't make much cost difference so might as well replace as soon as convenient.

Even better than a jump pack in every vehicle is an occasional night or two on a good battery conditioner like the ones from Clore Automotive. In the past 5 years, I’ve had at least 4 batteries that measured 11.7V or less and wouldn’t even turn on dash lights in the car. The Clore Auto ProSolar 10A conditioner has rejuvenated all of those batteries, and I have not replaced any of them.

I usually try at least once in summer and maybe twice in winter to put each of my cars on this overnight at a minimum. The battery in my ‘07 Subaru is still the one from when I bought the car 4+ years ago… think it’s from 2015 or so, and Clore has brought it back from dead at least twice.

My daughter KILLED her battery up at school. She accidentally left a regular incandescent map light and her parking lights on for 3-4 days before she had gone back to use it. She normally backs in also but not this time. She was facing a concrete wall with a couple large trucks on each side. No way to get a vehicle with regular cables close. She had to crawl to back of her CRV and use the "emergency" hatch release to open tailgate. The design of tailgate you can't lift the cover to spare tire without breaking it if the tailgate is closed. Of course her jump pack and cables were by the spare, where else would they be?

She has the 4000A GooLoo Jump starter. She hooked it up, hit the "bypass" button and car started right up.

She drove it for a bit with lights on for the higher charge (Honda charges low depending on load). She was fine after that. By the time she got home (2 hours away) it tested fine but I did the Re-condition charge with my C-Tek charger anyway.
