i got in a minor accident in the parking lot with the taurus. the taurus is fine, but a small scarpe on the front bumper, i'll just touch up paint it, but the person i hit was a 2010 volkswagen cc, we said we wwon't go thru insurance, he'll fix it, and then give me the bill and i'll pay for it and we're looking at places to repair it at, i'll do more research next week, but so far, he looked at a place charging him about 500 dollars. is that too much or reasonable, i left a dent, can i pull it out with a dent puller? i also offered to fix it for him with touch up paint and a dent puller, and give him 1-200 dollars for whatever he wants to do with it if he wants to fix it further and as a sorry payment, but he might not accept that, is gerber collission and glass good or no?
is it even worth fixing and apparently, the cc, which i never even heard of is better than the passat and is a luxury car, so luxury cars are even more epxneisve to fix, right, or should i go thru insurnace, but going thru isnrance is risky, as in the past, a few of my minor incidents were reported and they show up on the record, BUT for some reason, they didnt' give me any points or rate increases, whereas this other time in 2013, there was a rate increase for a minor parking lot incident too similar to this and my rate increassed like 33% because of that for 3 years and will drop off june of this year, so i do NOT want such an increase, but if i report it thru insurance, there is also a chance it doesn't increase my insurance rate, and i dont' pay a penny, so it's a gamble.
either with insuanrce, i pay nothing and have no rate increases, though it will show up on my record, or it will show up on my record, and i'l be responsible for a rate incrdease, as well as possibly paying a deductible (i've had a few minor accidents, like parking lot accidents, they happened about once a year, right now, there are like 3 on file, one per year) for 3 years of a rate increase (though it may not happen)
or i fork over the 500 to him and have him fix it at the place he had it checked out at, or I spend a week doing research, finding a cheaper way to fix it, OR i offer to fix it and give him 1-200 dollars. what's the best option? Thanks. I can post a picture later.
