The 14' Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 needs new tires soon. Currently have Cooper Discoverer AT3's in the stock 265/50-20 size. Thinking of going up to 275/55-20 as tire choices are pretty limited in the stock size. Seems like a popular size in the Grand Cherokee forums, won't rub. I'm also leveling out the front with Bilstein 5100's.

The Coopers are really loud though. Looking for something quieter but that still has a little aggressiveness to it. Need good road manners but can also handle rough hard rocky roads. Nothing wet.

these are quiet, but don't have a long tread life (tire compound is soft)

I never had an issue with the noise from my BFG AT Radials. However, the latest ones are significantly quieter. I would choose them.

yokohama geolandar g015 is the best mild all terrain.

I wasnt happy with the ride on the terraincontact AT .. might have just been my size but it felt like wobbling down the road.

The toyo opencountry AT III is a great tire but they do have a hum and drive like lightweight BFG's
ie Far from quiet.

The same tread that makes for more AT oriented, makes for more vibration and noise, so essentially you want something more road, less off-road like a Michelin LTX.

While the (now Defender) LTX is one of my favourite tires, we didn't go with them on the RAM due to the price difference between those and the Conti's (TerrainContact H/T) which, despite my extensive experience with the Michelin, had me give Continental a try, mostly due to the TireRack ratings which showed them to be just as good.

That said, the OP specifically asked for a "mild" AT tire and the LTX is definitely not that.

^ Milder than the Discoverer AT3... some trade off will have to be made, drifting further and further from AT towards road tires with a blocky graphic molded into the sidewalls for looks more than off-road capability.

Which is why I mentioned the Conti A/T's, which are available in his OE size and do not have an overly aggressive tread pattern:

Which are a bit milder than the Cooper:

While not completely giving up on being an AT.

I’ve heard good things about the Yokohama All Terrains being quiet. My Dad had a set of AT3s on his 14 Grand Cherokee as well. They were so loud. You could hear him coming from a 1/4 mile up the street. They got replaced with Defender LTX which were a night and day difference.

Bridgestone Dueler Revo 3 is mild and quite based on ratings, looking to replace the 265/50R20’s on my wife’s Durango soon as well. Looking at these, Michelin Defenders, and Continental LX25 to possibly replace the OE Bridgestone HL 422
Ecopia. I’d prefer better snow traction over the OE tires being in Michigan.

So beyond being captain obvious.. basically a tire such as the yokohama g015?

That revo 3 looks bizarre I was a fan of the revo 1 and 2.. but the 3 it is almost highway tread type sections and giant void areas.. as well as huge water grooves.

Top two quiet ones are the yoko g015 and continental terraincontact. I’ve had both and written reviews on both here. The conti is a touch quieter, a touch better in the rain, but a little imprecise. The yoko is only slightly louder, only slightly less wet traction, but more precise to drive. If you’ve got bigger wheels and lower profile tires, the conti is probably a nice way to go. If your truck uses more rubber on the sidewalls, I’d definitely favor the yoko. to me, both are grest. Wet traction for both is superb compared to just about everything else I’ve had.

Yes just got some BFG KO2 mounted this week and they are silent and no vibration on the freeway. As smooth as glass. Quite and upgrade from the Goodyear Duratracs I had previously.
