Looking for an alternative to Rotella T6. Ipone?

That’s a good point, less cost when you’re talking $23 a gallon vs around $40 for 4 quarts, if bought at “full” price. I keep my eyes on eBay and picked up my last 6 quarts of 4T for $6 each shipped last winter.

Looking at the Walmart website, 15w50 is now in new packaging as an “Advanced Full Synthetic” with the 10,000 mile protection guarantee. Don’t recall my last jug having the 10,000 mile “guarantee” so maybe they’ve bolstered something or it was capable of that but they didn’t advertise. Not advocating 10,000 miles in a motorcycle shared sump with a bike such as mine that has a 5,000 mile OCI, however maybe there’s something that goes along with that new guarantee, that would make the shift quality hang in there a bit longer.

my testing of m1 15w50 red cap was done...well... before june 1 of '05 (thats when i created the file on it)

the stoners said it had less than 0.5% fuel but with a flash of 390 i would say they are wrong.
the susvis was just 71.9
now if 68.28 is the bottom of 40wt...this is not that much above that! as in its 3/4 of the way into 40wt
and it was only used for 100miles in my Mix Master of DOOM!

now, considering that SuperTech 15w40 (yes the walmart brand hdeo) did the same 100mi
had a flash of 410 (but stoners said 0.0% fuel) had a susvis of 75.0 ... a test done before jan15 '08

which would you pick?

My mantra has become if I can find an oil that goes 5,000 miles maintaining shift quality, that’s a go-to oil regardless of brand. M1 10w40 4T and 20w50 V-Twin have done that, but admittedly I have not tried other top tier synthetics to compare to in my specific bike. 4T DID shear (flash point 410 deg f) to the top end of a 30wt, by .5 cst, however it starts low (13.4 cst) in the 40wt range so relative shear is low for 5,000 miles. Conventional 10w40, 15.2 cst as rated by Valvoline (Valvoline MC oil) sheared down to 11.1 after 1,400 miles with a flash point of 420 deg f and shift quality went to poop. M1 20w50 V-Twin didn’t even blink, 18.9 cst (flashpoint 410 deg f) after 5,065 miles.
