Ya, they seem to be a great tool. I recently switched to synthetic because the OLM on the G5 goes so far but it's all been sale priced so far. I may consider going back to conventional during the summer though. Haven't decided for sure yet.

just curious...why??

Has addyguy spilled the beans yet? I keep coming back to this thread looking for it... but nada!

Come on dude, floor me. Get me past my 5k dino paranoia

I wouldn't run conventional oil that long though.

I have yet to see a Mobil 1 Extended Performance used oil analysis on these cars at a reasonably short interval (e.g. < 8k miles or so off the top of my head) that looked any better than conventional used oil analysis. I'm talking distances within what the OLM would likely prompt for.

I just changed out the oil on my '09 Malibu with almost 9,000 miles on the SuperTech 5w30. Still showing 23% on the OLM. Car hadn;t used a drop. That Ecotec 2.4L engine must be really easy on oil.
