6901 miles since last oil/filter change and 20,378 total miles on this '23 Ford Brocno Outer Banks with the 2.7L V6 engine. This is this Bronco's 2nd run/3rd oil change with M1 AFE 0w-30 after running its first 5000 miles on the facotry motorcraft 5w30 syn-blend fill.

Viscosity right at the bottom of the 30 range, but since this is energy conserving oil I suppose it's engineered that way. Wear metals are looking good to me considering the vehicle is right at 1 year old. The M1 AFE Ssems to be doing pretty well; this OCI mileage was mostly a two-way road trip through Northwestern Canada between Alaska and Washington with some gravel/dirty roads. Fuel was whatever was the most cheaply availble except I used a Techron Complete Fuel system cleaner/fuel additive at the beginning of this OCI. Oil filter was a Fram Synthetic Endurance cartridge type.

I've used up all the M1 AFE 0w30 I bought earlier this year so I guess I need to decide if I'm going to keep using it. I guess I don't see a compelling reason to switch. Add pack numbers are a little erratic (low Phosphourous?) but I guess I shouldn't worry about that too much. Running the 0w30 since it's an Alaska based vehicle, although could probably go to a 5w if I wanted since it's mostly started from a heated garage and this part of the state only gets to about -10F on a regular basis, with occassional stints into the -20's.

You're getting good results with it. Here is a virgin report of this oil (from yourself). Putting it here for reference:

Another option to consider is M1 ESP 0w30. Available at WM for a reasonable price. It would be considered a "stouter" oil than AFE due to the European C3 and MB229.52 approvals. I personally would use it over the AFE in an Alaska environment, though I don't think there would be much real-world performance difference.

I think that is a great result for going through about 7000 miles in a TGDI engine. I prefer using the ESP oils from M1 but the AFE oils are very formidable choices as well.
Thanks, after my warranty is over I might switch to ESP 0w30 since it doesn’t meet the ford WSS spec, even though it is probably better.

Thanks for the updates on AFE, I’m also bound by the API 0w-30 during warranty for a KIA 2.5T. Only 5000 miles on the clock now, hope the AFE holds up.

I’m sure it will be fine. It seems to settle in right at the bottom of the Xw-30 viscosity range, ~9.3 at 100 centistokes and stay there regardless if you change at 3000 or 7000. I’m running this in 2 different 2.7L ford turbos and am going to see if I can get wear metals down to 2.5ppm/1000 mi with it now that they’re getting past the wear-in stage. If I can’t, I might switch to ESP or a 5w30 but it will take years to tell if they do any better.

Is this a GTL oil because of the low additive package?

Great question! I don’t know. I think it’s mostly a group III, but just guessing. I did a blackstone VOA a few months ago that indicated higher additive levels than the speediagnostix one. I don’t know if this is lab to lab variance or differences in batches, or something else.
