I posted a couple of these pics in the "unbeat a beater" thread, but realized this is kind of a different thing. It was and always will be a beater. There are missing parts in the interior, always something broken or rattling a bit, etc but the AC works and it's reliable and gets 24mpg on the highway.
I couldn't find pics of when I first got this car (around 2004 when I had a non camera cell phone and no camera). It was tan with brown interior. Swapped a free 350 Olds in, plus the trans and rear from my previous rusted out cutlass and the interior. Finished assembly and paint (rattle can) in 2007. Drove it for close to 10 years before getting a good tax return and doing a quick $800 paint job over the weekend (friend is a body shop manager/painter).
As of today I've put about 120k miles on it since 2007. Same engine and transmission, I upgraded the rear end and most of the suspension has been replaced.
I don't commute to work with it anymore since I have to take my work truck but I still try to put as many miles on this as possible since it's just so cheap to repair and maintain compared to a modern vehicle. ($50 water pump, fuel pump, wheel bearings, alternator rebuilds etc).
Anyone else have a similar story?
