I think if you follow that procedure and are using a good ATF and flushing the cooler line, you should be able to go at least 50-60K miles between changes for most transmissions and have long unit life. If you are just draining the pan and changing filter once then you probably should half that interval. If you don't have a filter and are just draining the pan then I can see the 15K drains coming in. But I just can't imagine a GM AT using Dex VI would need to be flushed and the filter replaced more often than every 50K-60K.
