Hi,

What is the best compatible ATF to Diamond SPIII?

I have 28,000 miles on my 2006 Hyundai Elantra GLS and im going to be my 30K maintenance a bit early.
I really want to use the best possible ATF and was wondering
if a full synthetic (Amsoil, etc) may help extend the life of the transmission and shifter ever smoother..although it does seem to shift smooth now.
Also, should I do a flush or the drain and refill? The fluid now
still looks great and no burnt smell at all

drain once, and refill with regular dex3. run for a bit, then drain again, this time refill with valvoline synthetic multi-purpose. i would wait till spring, you won't gain anything by doing it early, and right now it's too cold to be doing elective work.

Don't ever use DexronIII in a transmission requiring an HFM ATF.

Use ATF+4, Valvoline Maxlife, Mobil 1.... or any universal multivehicle ATF that mentions the SPIII spec.

Since you are at 30k, which is usually a good time for a full ATF exchange, I would do at least 2 drain/refills with 10-15mile ride in between drain/refills and then continue with a yearly drain/refill with the ATF that you've chosen.
