I had my trans flushed at the dealer at 30k miles because I thought the shifts were funny. The flush did not seem to help the funny shifts and now approaching 60k I was going to drain it and refill it myself. Does anyone know a good transmission fluid that would be within Hyundai spec that I could use? Thanks!

I use Red Line D4. The shifts were not funny prior to changing, it just made them smoother. The D4 also cured the slight shudder felt with when the fluid was cold. I did not have any cold weather shifting issues.

The only fluids that are "Hyundai spec" that I know of are the SP3 from the dealer and the SP3 from Eneos. Everything else is "can be used in place of SP3".

THanks I may look into the redline fluid for it...I also was thinking about AMSOIL or Royal Purple but not sure if RP makes an SP3 spec fluid. Thanks for the opinions.

No mine only has a 60k warranty on it so next time I change it the warranty from Hyundai will be done...Carmax I have until 100k but i dont believe they are as picky...I checked Royal Purple and they say it meets Hyundai specIII so I guess im good with that I think ill stick with it since its worked good in my truck/

did you buy it used?

Any ATF that says OK for use where Hyundai SP3 is spec'd will work perfectly in your A5GF1 trans.

I'd recommend Valvoline Maxlife ATF because it's readily available and what I've used with most excellent success.
