Local police recover vehicle wrecked in the river, find another one

That happens quite frequently actually. Lots of V8 SUVs turned up in the rivers here when gas hit $4 a gallon.

Probably reported stolen by the owner and ditched because they were upside down it it, had a mechanical issue, couldn't afford it, etc. Possibly it was actually stolen and ditched after committing crimes in it. I'm leaning towards the former.

Probably stolen and ditched as others have alluded to.

Appears to be a black Civic (HERE is a picture of the back of it) with aftermarket wheels. I think I've seen that car around town in the past.
 
Last year a car went into a wooded ravine in the mountains near here. When the rescue crew went down to retrieve the car they found another with a dead body in it. The body had been missing for 2 years.
