I have a 2015 Tundra with 113k miles on it. Have done some long haul 30ft travel trailer runs with it. Usually run Amsoil 0-20 but switched to Mobile 1 synth. I'm considering changing over to Liqui Moly for my next oil change and would like to know if anyone has added LM Ceratec to their engines. If it's worth it or just hype. The valve cleaner and engine flush seemed to have a positive impact.

TIA

I read through these posts and my brain locked up. 🤣 So many people saying it doesn't do anything and so many people saying it does. Neither of which can show proof beyond a reasonable doubt but all can bicker and poke each other with nonsense information. By the end of the post, the subject has turned from Ceratec to an argument over which candy bar tastes better. (J/k but not really...) it's like everyone has ADHD.

You can buy it, try it and give us your report, but people might ask you for proof too. That could be for positive, negative, or no results at all. ;)

Try it, no need for fancy oil you, Mobil 1 or another quality synth oil will do the job
I don't have graphs and numbers to support my claim but I think Ceratec works, one unexpected effect was it stopped very show oil leak (rear main seal).

You can do a quick seach in this sub-forum and find multiple threads on this additive (Kschachn I see has weighed in :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: ). I have used it many times in several of my vehicles as well as Liquimoly oils. I have no issues with this additive or LM products in general. To me, the M1 you are using is just fine/no real reason to switch up to the pricier LM oil unless you just want to/like to try things but if you want to try Ceratec, it will be fine to use with that M1. Follow the instructions w/r to volume to use as well as making sure you shake the can before adding. It's a hexagonal boron nitride ("white graphite") product and will show on UOAs as a spike in Mo and B (I have several UOAs on samples with it). There is an article floating around here (searching/find the Ceratec posts will likely find it) from some testing by TUV in Europe showing, in that test, results indicating it reduced wear. The big thing here, to me at least, is this isn't some super bigt spend ($30?) and it is supposed to last 30K miles and it certainly won't hurt anything so why not? Folks act like this savings is huge, I mean, that's eating at Mickey D's for 2 people. In before...

Why do you think you need an Oil Treatment? Consumption?.... engine chatter?
Are your OCIs are too long? Change that Tundra oil every 5k and never let it get a quart low on the dipstick tube.

The Ceratec's abilities lie on what's wrong with the engine. It needs to be tested and evaluated individually.
Just like Man, engines are all different....... even the one that rolled down the engine line right after yours was built.

Ceratec isn't meant to fix issues it's a friction modifier for "MOAR SLIPPERY".

I change the oil within 1k miles of the maintenance light coming on. I did drive across country while towing a 30ft Toy Hauler without changing immediately. Maybe 7k miles.

The only reason I am inclined to add ceratec is because of the mileage. There are no oil leaks and never have to add oil between changes.

I use LM fuel additives and when those are not available I use BG44K about 3x a year.

so, the ceratec is more of a pre-maintentance thing in my understanding. Help to extend engine life and keep it running at optimum standards.

If im wrong, then I'll add it to my diesel tractor.

You aren't wrong, it's just fine to try. See for yourself if there are any benefits real/perceived...it's $30....

I used it and saw an uptick in gas mileage but not enough to justify using it every other oil change. Was using M1 0w40 at the time. Always use it in the manual transmission.

What are your OCIs? You are not supposed to use it every other oil change, it's a single application for next 30k miles which covers a few oil changes. If you really want to 'replenish' with every next oil change then why not add 30-50ml per oil change only from its 300ml bottle?

Every 5 k miles. I saw better improvement using a half gallon of 50/50 xylene /toluene per tank but lasted three tanks.

Essentially a to each, their own situation here. I'm running Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 across the fleet and the Mitsubishi 6G72 is my highest revving engine due to the 4.90:1 rear axle ratio. Although the engine was freshly rebuilt from the ground up two years ago, I decided to add a bottle of Ceratec more so for experimental purposes; it supposedly has a lifespan of 50,000 km (31,250 mi). I dumped in a 300 ml (10 oz.) can based on the 5 liter (5.3 quart) sump capacity; color wise, the oil looks much lighter on the dipstick and that hasn't changed over the course of the past 1,500 km (937.5 mi).

After driving for about 800 km (500 mi), the engine idled and operated noticeably smoother. It idles quieter and revs more freely, if that's even a way to describe it. I do not know what the UOA will come back with, but for what it's worth, I'll take it and I have no complaints. I'm tempted to try it out on the Explorer next.
