LG refrigerators without linear compressor?

As many will know, LG refrigerators with linear compressors are plagued with problems and are subject to several class action lawsuits (I know - I have one). Other than the sealed system, there is a lot to like about LG fridges. I would like to find a used one since I don't think there are any current models that don't use linear compressors. So is there a way to determine which might have a traditional compressor? I found this site (full url below) but it is not always accurate. I prefer a top freezer.

How about a GE Profile? Yeah these linear and inverter type compressors are a pain. At the workplace we had workspace renovated adding a kitchenette the build was specked for a Hisense inverter fridge, it just wasn’t happy plugged into a GFCI receptacle. The vamping up and down of the compressor depending on its need kept nuisance tripping the GFI

Welcome to BITOG, Odd first post. :)

Why focus on an old LG non linear?
just pick a different brand and new?
Thanks. Odd first post, but I also found it odd that there are many posts on electronics here. The name Oil Guy is misleading, but I look forward to see what else is here.

According to consumer reports and reviews at Best Buy LG, has the highest ratings. I heard bad things about GE, etc. though I wouldn't rule them out.

I will look into them. Is Profile GE's higher end line?

GE profile reviews on Best Buy are mixed. Some very good, some not. They also don't seem to make top freezer models.

From talking with several knowledgeable appliance repair shops near me LG went all in on the linear type compressor and everything they've made in the last four years have them. I've talked with a couple of different people who have LG fridges without any problems but theirs were more than five years old.

I had my linear compressor replaced with my lowes 5 year warrenty a few years back
Hope it last now

I done side work with a friend that has an appliance repair biz he would always steer customers away from LG/Samsung appliances. Would say if you’re in the market for a tv I would recommend LG/Samsung but an appliance big NO

They must have been lucky. Mine is 7 years old and is on its 3rd compressor (parts covered by warranty, not $400 labor). It had the original linear compressor, and the "new and improved" version, both of which failed.

Why even bother with an LG? Any of their better models will have the Linear compressor so I would think you are out of luck.
LG has made linear compressors for over 20 years. Sure maybe a bad run for a couple years but that is settled. The hysteria will exist as long as there are law firms and media outlets looking for headlines.
Meantime LG rated highest in customer satisfaction from JD Powers, Consumer reports etc. Sooooo... well... I would steer clear if you are concerned. Me? Not the slightest, purchased an LG counter depth spring of 2023 along with LG washer and dryer.

Anyone predicting how long an appliance will last that is purchasing TODAY is no different than someone telling you which way the stock market will be going.

GE maybe a good second choice, we liked them as well. Builder supplied GE washer, cook top and in wall range are nice. Im good with those too, even though GE is a Chinese company
