I'm just making fun of my fellow Mazda6 owners and the wagon owners' unwillingness to part with their wagons.

Most 6es are sedans here. Sedans to hatchbacks to wagons is probably 20:3:1

Wagons are stupid rare here too.
Really a shame, makes it really hard for me to find one

i like my saturn but something a little less cheap feeling would be great. i like my saturn overall just wish the dash design was better and less mid evil looking lol. i really hate the idea of driving a chevy or pontiac. the whole bail out thing i would prefer anything else. i do think the 3800 is a good engine though. wish there were nice midsize car low maintenance with a 5 speed.

Get a RWD volvo, your choice of sedan or wagon. I like the chassis of the 740/940 over the 240. They come with stick shifts and turbo if you want it. Super easy to work on. Bummer is they're built like brick outhouses and 23 MPG is good.

My wife had a 1991 740 Turbo. Nice car, and pretty quick for its day.

Don't give up the stick. There are some things one just should not compromise on. My personal vehicles have all been manual transmission since 1977:

1963 Chevy Biscayne 6 cylinder 3 on the column.

1977 F100 6 cylinder 3 on the column

1984 F150 6 cylinder 4 speed on the floor

1995 F150 6 cylinder 5 speed on the floor

2001 Ranger 4 cylinder 5 speed on the floor

If you want a car with plastic body panels that don't rust just buy a newer one. Its only a select group the finds saturn's appealing, so they aren't expensive used cars. Thats clearly what you want to do, so do it. Newer versions have the piston fix too, right?

You're on a paupers budget, so you can't afford to be choosy. You'll be far better off finding a decent older GM or Ford for which parts are plentiful and cheap. Stay away from the vehicles that are expensive to fix (just ask the guy on here to bought a Volvo not long ago, and is now getting dollared to death by it).

The last thing you need to hold out on is the manual transmission or the "fun to drive" factor. After all, aren't you still planning to go to school sometime? And didn't you recently lose a job? And don't you have one or two kids with almost no financial stability? You have other priorities to be concerned with, and a dream car on a paupers budget shouldn't even be on your radar. Your responsibilities lie elsewhere, not in a car.

On the other hand, if you buy an automatic transmission, repair costs can be pretty high and generally you want to start out with a pan drop, filter change, and complete transfusion of fluid. As I said before, there are some things I would not compromise on. Focus small, but will do the job. There may be a Chevy comparable to the Focus and so far the Chevy's I have had also have a real oil pressure gauge.

I really don't want another Saturn a little bigger of a car would be better. Also poprivet I have a new job. Ad have a baby on the way my wife's car needs to be replaced which is why we are going to buy a car for around 3000. Her car is a nickel and dime kinda car. You don't know my situation good or bad so you should try not to judge and stay on topic. Also if I could find a manual that would be better they're fun to drive but also more reliable which makes them a practical choice. Also I am not sure how a midsize family hauler is a dream car.....maybe for you but believe its not by idea of a dream car I just want a nice safe reliable car.

Go for a 90's Maxima or Accord, 5 speed and reliable, also bigger than a Saturn.

It's hard to not like a 4th generation Maxima with a 5 speed. Incredibly good engine and overall excellent car. They're the best Maxima ever made if you ask me. I also like 90's Accords quite a lot. Resale now has them in your price range. Accord is timing belt, Maxima is not.

My comments are on topic, and I have a pretty fair idea of your situation since you posts contain much of your life story. If you don't want opinions to be rendered, and are too thin-skinned to hear the cold hard facts, then don't ask the questions.

Pop rivet you assume you knoemy situation because of what I jar shared on here. Thats not the case there is tons you do not know. I appreciate your insight but my wife's car is less than good enough and we have been saving money to get a nicer one. We finally have met the goal we wanted which is why we are getting something else . I just need advice on cars to check out and consider. I appreciate your insight but you do Jr know everything about my situation.
