Lets talk about new vehicles

Which do you find more comfortable on a road trip, the Maverick or Outlander?
It took 10k miles for the Maverick seats to be somewhat comfortable to my bad back. The mitsubishi seats were spot on the first mile.
I have several straight 16 hour runs on the Mitsubishi sports...they turn on a dime too...

The Maverick is a beast though with incredible mpgs and I like the engines sound and power. A remarkable pickup.
It's a bit stiffer but not real bad.
The radio stinks however and the sport has more speakers and satellite radio...on a trip a bad radio is no go

The mitsubishi screen is bigger too
Next trip I'd like to take the sport but getting double the gas mileage in the Maverick is something I can't ignore although the Sports I trust for total reliability....

If I wasn't cheap on gas, the Sport wins but not by much... it's a bit smoother and more comfortable.

If you live in a cold climate the Maverick does not put out much heat. It takes like 5 miles to start getting heat and heated seats are a must..it's cold blooded.

The Mitsubishi comes with heated seats in the LE version on up and the HVAC will blow you out in short order. The defrost is just as quick and the climate control knobs are very slick and precise.

Even with the climate control off the Sports always seem to put air into the cabin...so if it's cold you can turn off the system and put the control to your feet to keep you warm with no fan noise. The fan noise is low even when in moderate settings.

Both have great phone call quality well above VWs flagship models.
A very slight edge to the Sport overall.

The sports window buttons are not of great quality compared to the other switch gear.. they do give you auto up and down on the drivers side...ideal for drive-thrus.

I wanted to try the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross for years and it got an updated safety rating but up front it's too tight even though bigger than the sport.
Even though it's direct injection like Toyota it has port injection too and a turbo which is okay as Honda has used Mitsubishi turbos with a guy on YT has 700k miles on one with no repairs.

The mpg is dismal...25 city...26 highway....really? Yes....
It has a higher tech awd system but not worth the extra $$$

The full size Outlander has DI too so I avoided that and the sport is easier to maintain than the other two..

Even with standard 18" tires it rides very well although Mitsubishi needs to break ties with Nexen tires because they are junk and don't hold up too well.

Although on a blue car I was considering, these are the same seats I have. Very comfortable as usual.

I believe the big Outlander is a rebadged Nissan now, but your Sport is all Mitsu AFAIK and would be my choice as well.

I have had only one set of Nexens, they were already on a vehicle I bought. I thought they were quite good actually, Roadians I believe. 🤷

I get it though I had a set of OEM Kumhos that were terrible and I am soured for life on the brand.

They are universally known as bad.
They are shot by 20k and bad in anything but dry weather.. probably the lowest grade Nexens... surely a bargain grade tire...I forget the exact model. I will look tomorrow.

Even my 2014s and the 2021 had them .. I will just use them and dump them later. Maybe trade it in by then.

The big Outlander is great but I don't want DI.... here they shove the 20s on all of them making the ride harsh. They don't have Nexens on them.
The Eclipse Cross had Bridgestones

The new Outlander is pretty good. Yes, it shares Rogue's platform but Rogue is also a good compact SUV.

Outlander PHEV is actually a good value proposition. It is the only plug-in hybrid in a compact crossover segment with a 7-seat configuration and a mechanical all-wheel drive (not eAWD). Even though the 3rd row is unusable, kids can still sit there in an emergency. Really good features as well, like massage front seats, and memory seats for both passenger and the driver.

Rogue is also not bad, seats are slightly more comfortable, and it has 3rd climate zone unlike most entries, if that's important for you.

@KCJeep
The tires are Nexen N Priz and they say made in Korea.....
I don't remember where the older ones were made but it wasn't Korea..

The Continentals on my VW Arteon are from Romania.....

I think the Roadians I had were Korean as well. I got 60k out of them and they were used (on the vehicle) when I took possession. Nexen is not mentioned much around here though, probably for good reason.

I would think entry level Nexens would NOT be good for your devil may care high speed driving style. Another one of the mob in Outlander Sports already terrorizing the general populace.

on Saturday evening driving home 18.5 miles from the Lady Friends house, on a cold 20° night with a moderate headwind. 5 miles of non interstate with 13+ mi of 70 mph interstate. The coolant temp never got to normal, just above the first line. The last 3 miles was mostly on city streets where the engine didn't run much, the coolant temp went below the first line.

If I don't turn on the heat the gauge will get to a quarter and extended use just under the 1/2 way mark.

If I turn on the heat it tanks the guage to the bottom...I don't have heated seats.

Heated seats are a Godsend when you crawl into below freezing seats. The Maverick's get HOT in about 2 minutes. Have you checked into aftermarket seat heaters. About 5 years ago I was quoted $350 + 1 hour labor for adding them to my 2018 F-150.

My first Outlander Sport snow
Crusty ice underneath and heavyweight snow...
Heated seats the bomb, LED lights the bomb, 4wd lock great...not bad for a little econo box

The Taco in front of me was 4wd but pulled over...spinning too much plus I think he feared the Mits AWC and the 2L Mitsubishi monster motor... 😁 😀 😃 😊
The seats are great, no break in period....

I did on a sport ES and they wanted $2k for two leather seat covers with heat. I got an SE sport with the heaters. I may sell the Mav for a 25 but the price went up and I'm not in love with the new front end.

I have a VW and the Sport with heated seats so I'm good...thanks

The new front end is horrible in light colors. Not bad with darker colors. After the way my Mav went through our recent blizzard without AWD and I have a 8 year 100K no deductible, I will probably keep it a while. Mine has had no unexpected trips to the dealer. The last trip to have recalls down resulted in a upgrade to the brake software which worked, which has me even happier with my purchase than ever.
