Lets talk about new vehicles

I'm not sure I've ever owned anything where the "umph" from the drivetrain mattered... I can tell when I spin a front tire, but I've not had anything with torque steer. I have had RWD vehicles that were happy to kick the rear out in snow, and I can't say that was always fun... only when it was intentional, and that wasn't often.

Traverse engines are typically harder to work on but traditionally had more interior space. Six of one, half dozen of another.

I found the driving dynamics of the 2011 Outback (with 6mt I had for a brief bit, to be eye opening and satisfying.
I would place it at the longitudinal mounting or the drive train vs transverse,

TV might work better in RWD but I dont like it in FWD.

it is, truly, wrong wheel drive.

During late 70s' drove an El Camino rear wheel drive and was terrible in winter weather . Very light rear end . I was in late teens then . It took a beating . Belonged to a relative .

Put enough weight over the rear wheels and RWD-anything will do great in the snow, assuming decent tires/chains. I do this every year with my 2wd pickup. Worst thing in the world for snow, but once weight is in the back, it's like it transforms into a snowmobile. It can go through anything as long as it doesn't lose ground clearance. And if you do have a set of studded snow tires on the back of a 2WD rig, you can use the hand brake on slick ice to help put a rear bias in the braking pressure so the vehicle will stay straight when doing a hard stop.

My FWD's have been good in snow, until they get high ended or have to go up a hill. My RWD is the same way, if I have to back up a hill then I wind up grateful that there is a 4WD switch.

It helps to go up hills in reverse with FWD when going up forward doesn't work, assuming it is safe to do so. I used this trick a few times with my old Saab 900s.

Yeah, it usually wasn't safe to do so, or I found I couldn't when the car wouldn't, and then it was time for a shovel.

Is Zee off actually buying a car or off riding :

Seem like everyone and anyone is a car reviewer on youtube. Alex on Autos and thetopher and sometime
savagegeese are worth a watch.

Joe Raiti gives more of a styling overview along with some driving dynamics. What's good about his videos is they are all storyboarded the same.

Now the FUN guys and the most enjoyable for me are the two Canadians in Throttle house: James and Thomas;
But they usually don't test plain vanilla stuff. Their track videos of the New mid engined Vette and the various Mustangs and Camaros and Hellcats are insanely good.

The front on the Mitsu doesn't look half bad at that angle. Maybe I am wearing down.
Well the prices have finally come down.
A ES AWD Outlander which was offered at full boat retail is now $3500 off and the dealer is matching a $500
offer. So to me it is the winner far cheaper than a Rogue or most at $26K out the door.
Almost double the Rogue warranty and many have liked the road manners better on the Mitsu.

I would usually buy a mitsu for the bonus of a mitsu engine, here you are getting a Nissan engine. and a Renault platform.
at least its not that old clunker the QR25DE nissan grenade motor.
Looks like a good value CUV if you want a CUV. Basically a rolling Den couch. Yawn.

My little Ford has a killer engine in it. Super high output for a 2 litre, great tuning, great sounding, Big bore short stroke 4 cylinder.
Not some agricultural sounding 4" long stroke tractor engine.
I would love that 2 litre in a Focus ST with a 6 speed mt.

I must say I do like the upscale looks of the Mitsubishi, uh Nissan, uh Renault.

Sounds like it might just work for OP, based on his requirements, which are comfort, good fuel economy, and long warranty, from what I've gathered. But you may want to read the other 66 pages just to confirm though. :)

That 2.5-liter Nissan engine is not going to win any races obviously, but I'm sure it'll be adequate for most folks.

Long time Ford Owner- have two late model ones now.
Their pricing is way off base with the competition. Sure they have more cash on the hood but as time
goes on Ford have lost reality of the current market. I dumped my Ford stock because of the above.
Ford today is a boring place to shop.

The last two CEO's of Ford has stated they are putting profits over volume. An XLT trim on a F-150 Crew cab can approach the $60,000 mark. I'm looking to buy but expect $12,000.00 off sticker in 12 to 18 months.I will wait. When the market normalizes-it's going to be interesting to see what happens across all manufacturers.

Why the sad face, Zee? Did I not get your requirements right?

I thought you were not looking for a fast car here as you've already ordered one for that duty.
