Lets talk about new vehicles

I'm liking the Chrysler 300 suggestion. I know that a 2018 Chrysler 300 I had as a rental and put over 1k miles on in a few days is the vehicle that actually got me to look at Ram trucks. I was ready to hate it but walked away thinking "man this would be a great way to eat up some highway miles"..

Avalon would be another nice choice

I’ll have to side with @wemay on the Volkswagens. A Tiguan will get you around 30 mpg on the highway. It has plenty of space. The Passat is another good choice. I’m sure the Arteon would be another good pick. Volkswagen has some really good build quality. The fit and finish is really good. The interior plastic pieces are some of the best I’ve seen. The seats in our Tiguan are very good on long trips. Go by your local VW dealership and have a look.

Any issues with the Tiguan?
Thanks!!

I dropped my Ram at the dealership for a couple of days last year, they gave me a fully loaded Pacifica with the Pentastar...I do not like minivans, but I was happily surprised by how comfortable it is to drive. Don’t know about mpg though.

Kia Nero? 50mpg wagon/crossover

Subaru outback.. long wheelbase would have to check the seats there are(was?) 3 different seats with depending on the model of outback.

also not sure how you could hate all ford seats IIRC even different packages have different seats so you would literally have to drive a hundred to sit in them all.

my jeep came with 4-5 different seats etc.

for example the compass base seat is horrid and has no stuffing. same jeep but limited is whole different seat.

I dunno...
the 5thGen Taurus (Sable/TaurusX/FiveHundred/Montego/Freestyle*) had some of the most comfortable vehicle seats I've sat in.
that includes a couple 18-20hr Trips straight through between here & Dallas, without any leg cramps or lower back pain.

those ones don't have you quite as "locked into" a cockpit as the 2010+ 6th gen models.

with the later models(08-09) you just have to be aware of the Water Pump, if you can find one in good shape that's already had it's pump replaced, you're golden.
they also all will develop a rust Hole in the wheel arches just behind the rear doors, near the bottom. they ALL do....

(the Seats in my C-max aren't that bad either, but to each his own, though the longest i've gone in them is 3 hrs each way to Cleveland and back...)

* 2005-2007 FiveHundred/Montego/Freestyle
2008-2009 Taurus/Sable/Taurus X

To each his own on this sort of thing,
Of you top three, we were between two of them...actually had money down on a Lexus RX 350, similar to a Highlander.
Drove downstate 3-4 hours to drive some vehicles and went with the Acura RDX...hands down for us.
The deciding factors were:
1) Seats - the Acura has 16 way adjustable on both driver and passenger...including lumbar inn and out, lumbar up and down, bolster, and seat extension.
2) Transmission - the Lexus seemed “indecisive”, seemed to always want to always upshift...and had a delay when you accelerated to pass.
3) All wheel drive system - we live in a snow belt region and had always considered Subaru and Audi as having the top AWD drive systems...as I read up on it, the Acura SH-AWD System is top notch...putting the power to the wheel with traction.
4) Price - the Lexus RDX 350 was seven to nine grand more...

Overall, I like what I see in the Chrysler 300. There is one thing that Chrysler should have done. The side view mirrors should be painted to match the car color. The 3.6 engine is a very good engine and gives good highway fuel mileage.
After looking at Chrysler’s website, the 300 Touring L offers body color matching mirrors.

Volkswagen's have a pretty firm seat on them if they are vinyl or leather. Don't know about their cloth offerings. For the money you are willing to spend I may look at a Cadillac. That demographic is still served by them. Old geezers that used to drive the couch equipped coupe de villes are now driving their equivalent.
