Lets talk about new vehicles

I’ve not driven one yet. I could hate it. What did you think of them?
The deals were in then and I almost pulled the trigger but I always wanted a VW but always bailed...health wasn't great then so I went VW...
What @ZeeOSix said and I usually drive alone anyway and I thought it would be nice and not too expensive.
I really liked it. My dealer is horrible though as I bought 4 trucks and a Cmax from them.
That was the killer too.

@KCJeep
Look up Raiti's Rides on YT. as he did his nitpicking on it but it didn't bother me... He complained about a few things but no deal breakers

Go test drive one and see what you think. Drive both a 4-cly turbo and the V8 to compare.
Definitely! I’ve learned the hard way something you think is going to be the bomb is “meh” for my taste. Don’t think I’m interested in a V8, I like to drive kinda fast but don’t have to get there in 5 seconds, don’t like the mpg or price either. Thinking an EcoBoost Premium is the ticket but yes I need to look. Raining tomorrow. 😟

I watched a YT. Video tonight on the 4 cylinder Tacoma.
Guy was going to sell it and raved about how bullet proof it was and how dependable and so on. And then he said it had 11k miles on it...what????
No joke...why was he selling it...no idea...I turned it off after 11k miles..lol

Me too, usually alone now or just the wife with me. The Mustang is actually less than the Arteon, Audi or Alfa. I could afford any of them but I’ve got a practical side (Jetta) so that is a consideration.

I’m 59 but don’t have any trouble getting in and out yet.

Tomorrow I will no longer be 59 lol

The VW 2L Turbo is unlike any 4 cylinder I have ever had. At no time does it feel like one.
Very smooth and not agricultural

Yeah brainwashed. My best friend at work is like that, his Tacoma manual transmission grenaded at 59k. He still raves about dependability. I told him I’ve had a bunch of supposedly unreliable Jeeps with high miles and never put a tranny in any of them. He didn’t have a response to that but he still spouts the Toyota brainwash blather.

It's a cult...lol

I do get a GM discount but I left GM long ago...I got pause...lol

1.3 3-cyl turbo, eh? How does it drive?

Surprisingly well. At idle if you really pay attention you can occasionally feel a little of that odd cylinder vibration but it's very muted and only a car geek would feel it. As for acceleration, it moves the Encore GX really well. I wouldn't challenge anyone to a race, but for normal everyday driving it has plenty of power.

VW has been in the turbo 4 game a long time. As they evolved troublesome cam followers and carbon build up were sorted out and now the EA888 gen3 is a great engine. If they could just get the water pump/thermostat fixed it would be even better. Not that the water pump is hard to change, very easy actually but still get it fixed VW lol.
Additionally the transmission’s whether the Asin 8 speed or the 6 or 7 speed DSG are very good too.

I do like the Aisin trans..
Pretty seamless and nothing about it reminds you it's there.
That is a good point for me.
