So here's a noggin scratcher.

New Husqvarna 125B leaf blower. Probably less than 2 hours of run time on it from blowing driveway/sidewalk/deck after mowing the past couple of months. Last time used about 1.5 weeks ago, motor suddenly died right about the time I was finishing driveway sweep. Tried a few times to restart, motor would fire, then die. Fuel was visible in tank, but low...figured maybe the fuel pickup tube was curled out of fuel, I'll fuss with it later.

So, yesterday, played with fuel pickup tube and seemed good. Filled tank to known good run condition using Husqyvarna premix (purchased with blower to get extended warranty). Started blower on driveway. Engine will idle and can be revved, no problem. Any attempt to actually lift the blower and it dies. I adjusted the H/L needles a bit, but no change in behavior. Tried lifting while idling and while revved, same thing. Blower will "walk" a bit if not held in place, doesn't seem to bother it. Only lifting kills the motor. It behaves as if there's a deadman switch between the blower and concrete.

Any thoughts!

TIA.

I have that exact blower and I had to replace all of the fuel line within the first year that I owned it. I bought tygon tubing and replaced everything.

I also richened up the fuel mixture a quarter turn and it has performed flawlessly for the two years that I've owned it.

I do replace the fuel filter and air filter annually for good measure.

I know this is a dumb question, but you said you played with the pickup tube. Does the gas line in the tank have a filter attached to it?

Does this have a pressurized fuel tank? Does it hold pressure? Cap problems? Primer gizmo?

If you bought it from lowes, they should replace it for you no problem. The pull cord broke on my husky trimmer the first time I used it and the gave me a new unit.

Lowes' receipt clearly states OPE can't be returned after 30 days. After 30 days, it's a warranty service issue. A reasonable policy, IMO. At this point, I'm a day or two from 60 days out.

The next step is taking it in for service, but I thought someone might have seen this type of problem and have an equally non-obvious solution, which is why I posted. That and too many postings of servicing dealers not wanting to do warranty work on something they didn't sell.

I don't mean this to sound "preachy", but it may anyway. I recently bought a new Echo PAS-225, which is a split-boom string trimmer. I found a kit that had the power head, the straight shaft trimmer attachment, and the edger attachment. It was at a local Echo dealer for the same price as what Home Depot was getting for a similar kit (with the power head, the straight shaft trimmer attachment, and a blower attachment). I was quite surprised that I didn't actually pay any more at the dealer, and they also unboxed it, fueled it up, showed me where all the controls were, and handed all of the paper work to me in a nice folder. None of it was necessary, but it was a nice touch, and I didn't have to pay any extra for it. And if I do have a warranty issue down the road, they'll be there and there won't be any issues.

Now...all of that said...a Husqvarna dealer SHOULD be ready and willing to do warranty work on your unit, if it needs it. They bill Husqvarna the same price, whether they're fixing your unit or one they sold themselves. Of course, they'd probably make you feel more like family if you returned with something you bought there, but if they do give you any hassle, just call Husqvarna, ask if they're an authorized dealer, and tell them that they won't fix it. They (corporate) should get on the case quickly.

Lowes may not accept returns after 30-days, but a Husqvarna service dealer (check your city location) may provide warranty work. Call em all via phone.

I returned my Husqvarna chainsaw to Lowe's 10 months after I bought it because the chain drive locked and could not be freed, no questions asked, got a new one. Lowe's gets full credit from Husqvarna for the returns. They are returned to Husqvarna for reconditioning/repair and re-sold else were. Other brand OPE from Lowe's may be sent out for repair instead of being replaced if you didn't get the Lowe's replacement plan. For example my Briggs & Stratton generator has a 2 year warranty but after 30 days I can return it for repair not replacement. I work at Lowe's.

A quality dealer will service it no questions asked regardless of where it was purchased. A quality dealer will use this opportunity to get to know you and build rapport to make you their customer the next time you need equipment. If they hesitate or deny, walk away and go to the next dealer. Husqvarna is very particular with their dealer network and respond to claims of a dealer refusing services.

The fuel line/filter in the tank may not be setting right in the tank. Also, check for a kinked fuel line in the tank.
