Las Vegas tourism seems to be in deep trouble

We used to visit a few times a year. Prices and fees got out of hand. Maintenance has also taken a dive. They became like most industries these days and they just pocket the profits or pay back to share holders rather than reinvest in the business. We stayed at the Belligao and Caesars Palace and both had tired worn out looking rooms. No intention of going back. Glad that they are finally feeling what everyone has been saying for years. Side note, legalized weed also changed the crowds. It keeps most families away
Bellagio has been remodeled. The main hotels update their rooms every few years but it's an long process.
We go every year for WSOP. Our trip this year was interesting because we ended up with a $400 food comp for MGM properties. Room at two properties (Aria, Planet Hollywood) cost us around $600 total for ~9 days

Used to come to Vegas regularly for temporary duty during my 20 year stint in the Air Force in the mid 70s thru 90s. Got a job and moved here in '96.
The video and most of the posts nailed it. I find the Strip nowadays so overpriced, overcrowded, and offensive I avoid it whenever possible.
But, believe it or not, there is now a lot more to Vegas than the Strip and the tourist traps. It is not a bad place to live.

I have also heard of this remark from people directly who came from out of state to visit New York City.
They used to like going there, but now they tell me wherever you go on the streets there all you smell is pot, constantly and there’s no getting away from it

Not saying I like either, but this is Vegas currently. Below Vegas is where I am at currently. Look at the heat index. Humidity is awful.
If you look at the deaths of elderly in the city apartments in heat waves, its typically the humidity. Your body can't cool itself very well when the humidity is 70%. I try to walk in the morning or late afternoon when the sun has dropped. I am used to it, and the humidity, which at those times is at or near 100%, is absolutely oppressive whatever the temp.

i have been in Asia when its 90 percent humidity and 90 degrees and in Vegas when its 115 with 4 percent humidity . I will take Vegas all day long.

I actually do steel mills in Birmingham and Mobile during the summer, in full PPE. They limit the time operators can be on the floor without a break in a cool room.
The desert SW has had a really mild spring and summer so far. I'd rather be here then along the east coast or SE portion of the country this year!
