Las Vegas tourism seems to be in deep trouble

Or Henderson and Lake Las Vegas area. Give it time though as housing is ridiculously expensive. Ever consider Reno?
I wasn't crazy about Henderson. We went to Sunset Station. Seems more hectic around there compared to the Summerlin side of town.

Never been to Reno. I hear good things any Tahoe. Went to Lake Las Vegas once. Seems a little out of the way. Thanks for the recommendations.

Oh, I BBQ year round - but only “low and slow” in the summer …
(Low maintenance meats) …
Sure, something quick. But here I had like 20+ people. I was at the grill. Flipping under roof with Glenfiddich wasn’t a problem. Doing that in that God awful humidity is really pushing it.

Vegas used to be ultra cheap - including the flights. Years ago I went many times for trade shows for work. I haven’t been in at least 15 years, which is probably when it became not cheap.

Vegas used to draw a lot of convention crowds. But conventions have been dropping off for years, and a lot of cities compete for what is left.

Then they re-invented themselves as more entertainment but there is way more competition for that these days. Lots more Places to gamble also for those so inclined.

Used to be about cheap drinking too but drinking has been in decline for about the same time.

Who wants to stay in a fancy hotel in the middle of nowhere? There is no beach or city or whatever. It’s all completely contrived.
That’s funny,
Last time I was in Vegas was with my wife for her trade show somewhere around 2004
I think it was still pretty good then we stayed at the Mandalay Bay and from what I remember drinks was still free. I can’t remember the food, but I don’t remember any cost being high.
I’m reading this thread now and it seems like a whole other the world over there. Someone else posted in here. I have to agree. It was probably better when the mob ran it instead of corporations now.

It’s kind of funny we always thought we would go back one day but everything I’m reading in here. I don’t think I have any desire.

I'll take 110° in the Mojave desert before I take 90° in Georgia again.
The last 13 years I worked, I ran a billet reheat furnace in a steel mill, just west of Indianapolis, Indiana. The ambient conditions outside my (air conditioned) control room generally ran about 130°F in warmer months. Living here in Las Vegas just feels....normal.

Las Vegas use to offer some value.

Today Las Vegas is zero value whatsoever. Las Vegas is the same price structure as Disney Land, except at Disney land the financial bleeding stops when you leave the park. At Las Vegas the Disney Land pricing hits you 24x7 for your entire stay.

People are willing to pay extreme excesses to spend seven hours at Disney Land once every few years. People are not willing to pay Disney Land prices for 24 hours a day, three days straight in Las Vegas. People had paid the extreme charges at Las Vegas, but they have caught on to the extreme financial exploitation visitors to Las Vegas.

Hotels and flights are full nationwide every day with tourists. Las Vegas situation has nothing to do with lack of tourists or the U.S. economy or gambling available nationwide. Las Vegas issues are simply a local to Las Vegas issue which is a direct result of extreme exploitations by corporate casino operators.
