My laptop battery is 2 years old & on the way out so I need a replacement. It's an 8-cell lithium ion. I can order from Toshiba for $140, but would like some solid alternative sources. Specifics:

Toshibo Qosmio X770
p/n PSBY5U-08J02G
s/n ZB039379K
battery p/n PA3928U-1BRS
price $120 + $10 shipping + $8.40 tax = $138.38

Thanks.

I recently bought a laptop battery from a place I found on the web called LaptopBatteryExpress. Pretty convincing web site and the battery works but I've only had it a few months now.

You're what one of my past bosses called a "feeder" ie. a baby bird that can only cheep to be fed. I'm sure you are perfectly capable of looking this up for yourself, and should do so as a growth experience. Have a nice day.

datech,
Thanks for the link.

ClutchDisc,
That one doesn't have any reviews so seems like a [censored] shoot - something that I'm trying to avoid.

Miller88,
"YMMV" That's exactly why I'm asking on here to try & weed out some suppliers that have a poor track record. Any particular sellers you would recommend?

loyd,
Troll.

SrDriver,
There are thousands of battery sellers on fleaBay. Do you have any in particular your recommend trying or to stay away from?

Not a troll, just think people should learn to do things for themselves and not be a leech on everybody else. Try it, you might like the feeling of being more independent!

p.s. How do you think all of us successful people got that way? It certainly wasn't by asking other people for advice on how to do the SIMPLE things!!

I've had pretty good luck just buying aftermarket batteries off of Amazon. I usually just go with whatever has the highest reviews and haven't had any issues. For 1/3rd the price of OEM, I really can't complain. The last battery I bought was from "Laptop Battery 1" and it works fine.

Look closely at return policy and warranty. That'll give you an idea of how much confidence they have in their own products. Still you should find what you need for about half that price.

Jeff,
Are you saying Newegg as the seller has provided good batteries to you or just sellers in general on Newegg?

Jiblet,
It seems that most battery warranties are timed to expire just prior to battery exhaustion so I agree.

loyd,
You've completely misunderstood the entire point of my post. I'm not looking for a link to a battery that will work; any schmuck can do that. As I said in my original post, I'm looking for "solid alternative sources". Read - personal recommendations of vendors/mfg that have supplied very good to excellent batteries in the past. No need for the personal insults of someone you don't know from Adam.

I ordered a laptop from batteryheads.com a couple years ago for a Toshiba laptop (since sold). It was a good price and performed pretty well. It started losing its run-time capability sooner than the OEM did, but was also 1/3 the cost.
