Lamar Odom

From what I'm hearing, he's in pretty bad shape. It will be a miracle if he wakes back up in a normal state. Too bad somebody who could have/do whatever he wanted went down this road. I guess having money and fame isn't really what makes people happy.

Sometimes the human brain sees the world with a sense of desperation. Looking for something thats not there. We do see this as someone who was rich and healthy and could have been constructive & positive.

Some people today are always so quick to feel sorry for folks that deserve nothing but condemnation. In my opinion the guy is a scum-bag and a complete fool.

So many hard working, decent members of society out in the world just trying to be a good parent and raise a healthy family. They have problems to. They don't make the headlines of course...but this clown...and the disgusting Kardashian clan...people want to feel sorry for?

They (the media, Jesse Jackson, CNN, etc.) are already making him out to be a "hero", just like they did when Magic contracted HIV back in the 90'S.

Yep...exactly. It's such a travesty in this country who we seem to hold up as some individual worthy of praise or sympathy. The common man (or woman) deals with struggles. Sometimes very serious ones. Most of those folks go completely unnoticed.

Why in the world did Jesse Jackson stick his nose into the limelight? Was he a friend of this guy?

I couldn't agree more.

I abused alcohol and drugs for decades. Which is why I have no sympathy. Doing drugs and drinking is a choice, not this absurd notion that it's a disease and we should somehow feel sorry for fools who a use them.

And I'm not talking weed here either. I did it all, daily, for decades. And every time I called the dealer for an 8 ball I was choosing to call him. I wasn't sick. I had control of my hands when I dialled the number. I had control of the blade as I chopped it up. I chose to snort gram lines. Heck my dealer made me a bet once that I couldn't snort an 8 ball in one line. If I couldn't I had to pay for it.

He lost. My tolerance was extremely high because of decades of use.
Booze was the same thing. I chose to go to the liquor store.

Period.

These clowns who claim weakness or disease is just an excuse. I know. I was there for 20 years.

Then I got an impaired driving about 5-6 years ago. I wrecked my truck and I looked at the wreckage of my life and said that's it. No more.

And that was it. I haven't been drunk nor high on illicit dope since. I chose to get high and drink. Now I choose not to. I had to say goodbye to all ,y so called friends and buddies. It was a road a person has to walk alone for it to stick.

In a year after I quit I bought my Harley for cash as well as the parts for upgrades. I bought my charger the next year.

I bought my girl a bike and my boy. I started collecting firearms. If I was still boozed up I'd still have nothing.

I built and sold my first house and the entire profit went up my nose in 6 months. I am just glad I had the sense to say enough.

You have to hit rock bottom. My rock bottom was my accident driving drunk. I had never been in an accident before impaired. It was my wake up call that I'm going to kill someone and be so wasted I won't remember, and I couldn't handle that on my conscience.

I was a functioning wasteoid too. Worked everyday. Ran my business. I just aaw the writing on the wall and didn't like the picture,so I chose to change it.

Anyone who claims this is a disease is making an excuse and it's a cop out. A way to deflect responsibility from themselves. I know. I walked the walk.

Now I drive.

It takes a lot of will power and mind control to shut off drug addiction. Most can not do it easily, and therefore use the "it's a disease" excuse for their actions and inability to take back control. You obviously had a moment when your brain took over control and stopped it all together ... good job!

People using drugs make bad decisions also - mixing drugs, overdosing, etc ... and that's probably what got Lamar into the position he's in now.

1) Jesse Jackson is an opportunist, using anything possible to try and stay "relevant" (which he is not), and

2) Lamar Odom is black. If a white athlete was in this position JJ would not be heard from.

White on black crime? He's an idiot but perhaps in a moment of clarity saw fit to retain a decent trust and estate planning attorney.

Good riddance.

More likely one of his "handlers" thought of that for him.

I'm sick of our society obsessing about over an over grown man-child
who plays with their balls all the time.

lol yeah with Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson (the son who’s convicted of embezzling) and BHO as successor trustees.

I won't spare a single thought his way. He made choices that anyone with half a working brain would know were bad. Now, rather than doing something positive with his money and position, his legacy will be that he was found half-dead in a brothel, pumped full of illegal drugs.

I had many drinking buddies who never got much past their 50th birthday, primarily because of alcohol. Some didn't even see their 40th and one dropped in his 30's.

Eventually I saw the light, but not all of us are that lucky, or smart enough to slow down depending on your view of these situations. Odom appeared to be on a path for the past few years that was bound not to turn out well if he stayed on that path.

I wish the best for him, and do note that he was an absolutely talented basketball player in his younger days at 6 foot 10 with amazing abilities in just about all aspects of the game.

It's not just specifically Odom, it is all of those like him out there doing careless, thoughtless, inconsiderate, and dangerous things, and thinking NOTHING about others. I can PROMISE you this guy was
a negative balance to our society in many ways and those like him as well, let them find a quick, efficient, and nonlethal to others method to terminate themselves so they don't cause the rest of us grief, aggravation, and hardships.
