I don't listen to country music at all but my wife will sometimes. It's definitely "New Country" (in fact, I think that's what some radio stations market themselves as playing) and it's what sells. The old-school folks that grumble and complain are the ones triggered by it too. Just look at the uproar when Beyonce put out a country song. People argued that it can't be country (mostly because of her skin color) because she's a "pop" artist but that's 100% ignorance. If they listen to the song blind, they'd 100% agree it's country.
