Well, I got my Kreen yesterday and put some in my '99 Subaru, to see what will happen.
I also put about 3 oz. of Kreen in this old mower that has a 15 hp B&S engine. This old motor smokes and burns oil so bad, that it changes itself.
I left the thing running in my tractor port for about 45 min.. When I came back to check on it, smoke was boiling out of the building! This thing began to backfire, sounding like a 12 gage shotgun going off!
The motor quit after backfiring many times and I when went in to pick up the parts the motor was still together,LOL
I changed the oil, cleaned the plug that was full of black gunk, and this thing cranked right up! It runs ok, but still smokes, some.
I hope my old Subaru will handle Kreen somewhat better than my mower!

Got my invoice for my one qt of Kreen today.
Shipped from Nashville, Tn. to my home in east Tn, by FedX, the cost was:

One Qt. Kreen = $15.00
Shipping Charges = $13.34
Tax = $2.62

Grand Total = $30.96

Seems a little much to me! What do you all think?

I buy a minimum of 4 qts. at a time making the shipping lower per qt. That makes the final cost per qt. more reasonable. If you like the product and need more, order 4 or more qts. next time. Or consider a group buy with some car enthusiast buddies.

They keep coming up with promotions. You need to registr yourself at their site and plan ahead of time.

Is that Kano Labs' fault, or the fault of the "efficient" private-label shipping companies, which IME are obscenely expensive?

I agree. I bought 4qts this past week and it comes out to be like $20 a quart shipped.
$30 ain't exactly bad either. It's the shipping that's hurting you. Can't blame Kano Labs...

Just bought my first two quarts for some major "kreening" that needs to be done on a 00' Corolla hopes are high for this stuff.

I just across the border into Mich, to the napa store that sells this product along with other high end products..$18 plus tax

Just started a "Kreen Purge" on my 2000 Corolla. It was still burning over a quart of oil a wk/250-350 miles after a seafoam soak. As I was putting in the Kreen a little spilled on the engine...as I wiped it up in the same spot some oil had been previously spilled there was a nice clean metal shining at me. I have some big hopes for this chemical I will update after a week or so. Nice thing is I have a friend with a 55-gallon drum of Valvoline Nextgen looking to get rid of some of it...perfect timing for me.

Actually-you can place some of the blame for high shipping costs on Kano--they are the ones who contracted with the shipping company, correct?
Kano could choose a vendor with lower costs to the consumer when the contract is up--that might actually increase sales of their products

Anyone looking to get Kreen (or any Kano products) in Canada can order from Century Vallen. I recently ordered 2qts and a couple cans of Kroil from them.

You have clogged piston oil return holes. Known problem with the 1ZZ-FE engine from 98-02. Hardened carbon deposits consisting of sludge and varnish. Flashed into a hardened mass thanks to the heat of the combustion chamber and hot spots in the engine. If the oil consumption just started, there is a chance the deposits have not hardened and can be cleaned. If the consumption has gone on for thousands of miles, its too late. The only option is a teardown to remove the pistons and drill out the piston holes or sell it. Seafoam has low amounts of solvents, so it wont be very effective in one shot if ever. Seafoam may make things worse with this problem. Mostly lube, it will coat the rings and cylinder walls, allowing oil to slip past more easily. MMO has higher amounts of solvents. Being $ cheap it could possibly do something used long term as an additive toward the end of each oil change. Kreen has the highest levels of solvents, some very toxic. Expensive to use long term, hopefully you see results. But no additive can fix the 1ZZ-FE clogged piston holes once deposits are flashed into a hardened mass. Let us know. Good luck.

Its the green earth activists and the EPA. Killing off companies that sell toxic or hazardous products to save the world. Its change the brew to a earth friendly (and less effective IMO) cleaner or be taxed, fined, and feed out of business like most have. Kano's hanging in there for now even though many of their products are banned from retail sales because they are considered too hazardous.

You didnt even answer the question.

If UPS charges $x, is that Kano's fault? Simple question, yes or no.

Using these private shippers is obscenely expensive.

But to blame Kano for that is silly.

If you think that $15/qt that Kano charges is based upon taxes and fines, then post some proof... But it still doesnt explain the shipping charges.
