Kohler branded filters used to be made by Champion labs IIRC. Fram is Honeywell.
I usually ran the equiv. of a PH3600/Motorcraft FL400 on my Kohler V-twins. It's a longer filter than the PH3614.

I am running the Fram TG 3614 on my Kholer 19hp Cub Cadet LTX1040 right now.
Don't just take my word for it : according to Fram's site when you enter the competitor's filter number in it will tell you their equivalent filter.

For what its worth, I use Motorcraft FL-910S filters on my Kohler command that calls for the same filter. There is not room for a larger filter on my application. The Motorcraft filters are VERY well built, especially for the $3 something price they sell for at Wal-Mart.
