Kirkland signature synthetic oil

Unless someone has two identical, blueprinted engines ran for hundreds of thousands of miles in matching circumstances to compare the two oils, its going to be very difficult to identify whether Kirkland Signature or Quaker State Full Synthetic is a "more premium" oil.
Even that wouldn’t do it. There are standard tests for comparative wear between oils and they don’t use spectrographic analysis for the determination, and for good reason.

Your further comment about Blackstone’s comments is spot on.

Now obviously the sludge buildup that happened with Pennzoil and Quaker State happened a long time ago, obviously has been rectified.. and you guys have already made it clear, that regular maintenance is the most important thing. But now how come, some 5W20 oils Are thicker or thinner then others?

Oils are classified by grades. And the winter rating is largely irrelevant to that.

What I meant is, some 5W20 grades are thinner than other 5w20 grades.. and some are a little thicker
That is because there is a variation in CST. Sort of like a 'range' that each grade fits in. Some are on the lower end of that range, others are on the higher end of that range. Hence the some are thicker or thinner than others, yet all fit within the range of 20Grade.

Anybody know why Costco, isn't carrying Kirkland signature 5W-20 synthetic oil in 6 quart cases?
My semi local Costco Business Center has all 3 “flavors” in the 6 1QT boxes. My local Costco never has 5W-20, but usually has 0W-20 and 5W-30 all day long.

Most of the synthetics, on the shelves either meet SN+ or SP is there any benefit over one particular brand versus another? For just a daily driver? Quaker State, Pennzoil, Pennzoil Platinum, Super tech, Valvoline, Mobil 1, Castrol?

Seems I see a lot of "Get what is on sale and meets manufacture recommendation/requirements" type answers here.

Not really, though I do use M1 or Castrol 20K oils for the cars that see the full OEM service interval. I strongly believe that most of the current OEM intervals are inadequate, so I’d like to install the more robust oil possible if one was to go the entire interval.

For the other vehicles that see an oil change every 3-5K, I just use the cheapest approved oil.

Now what's that 20,000 Supertech oil does it actually compete, compete with Mobil one don't get me wrong I don't even go 6,000 miles on oil changes. It's just a question. That I'm curious about?

Mobil did some fairly extensive testing to validate the advertised 20K mile drain interval and their additive technology has generally been well-ahead of the competition. I am not too familiar with Castrol, but they are fairly respected on the OEM side so I would expect that they did their homework as well.

ST is a private label product so…
