Or run a top name HDEO which will probably have a magnesium additive package and higher HTHS to combat fuel dilution.

Someday maybe a handful of 5/10W30 HDEO's will exist with Calcium levels near 1000, instead of 2500.
I pity the unknowing 2019 Equinox and CRV owners, who purchased those D.I engines with turbos. So many of them still have old-school thughts of long, extended OCIs.

Trouble is lurking ahead, as my 2nd choice in new vehicles was the Honda CRV and 3rd Choice was the Equinox.
Heck, there's been nights laying on my pillow where I thought I should have purchased the little smaller RAV4, which has the very dependable, older school DOHC engine, instead of D.I's and turbos.

It's hard to say. Generally, if an HDEO is E7, E9 and/or E6, it'll usually have a magnesium package (with still a lot of calcium) to have elevated TBN. An HDEO with a solely calcium package will have a lower TBN and miss out on the ACEA specs, and not bother with the magnesium at all, since they'll meet the SA requirements for CK-4 already.

GF6 to the helping hand rescue, coming soon to a Walmart near you....lol
In the meantime, run 5w30, SN Plus and change synthetic every 5K and conventional every 3K.
At the top of my D.I. 2.4 engine list will be QS Durability, Castrol Magnatec and Pennzoil Platinum.

I need proof (beyond the pudding) that conventional oil brings longer engine life, before I switch back to it.

If i find Syn on clearance, ill still use it too. I might just alternate.

Did you read on the NAPA ProSelect upgrade for the 2.4, over at the Oil Filters board room? Got me interested, being it seems to match what Hyundai is using currently for their dealer oil filters. At $3.49, it's almost half-price to what the dealer charges for the OEM version.
I'm guessing the same filter works for either the Kia or Hyundai. 2.4.

Oops, forgot to mention it's pro flow. So if you're an Ultra fan, disregard this post......lol

Wait - nevermind! I forgot about your STP thread there. The XL is on my Santa Fe purchase-list too. Wix 51334 also.

Ended up changing oil at 10K Kilometers a couple months ago.
Im almost reaching my next OCI. Planning to do 12K Kilometers this time, no oil added between in past or current OCIs. Dipstick is reading 3/4 to full mark right now and im almost at 10K.

Checked the engine through the oil fill hole and everything "seems" fine. Wish i could do an oil analysis for fun but theres no such thing where i live.
