Taking all suggestions of non-felony fun to have.

Rules

#1 I'm not starting it (at least not the engine), there's lots of neighbors around and that can probably be considered theft even if you don't drive it.

#2 Obviously nothing damaging, I just want to have a little fun, and maybe give the workers a laugh when they get here in the morning.

Taking all suggestions.

Well you uptight people can rest easy, while the keys are in the ignition, unfortunately they had the foresight to lock the cabs. Although I believe there's some more equipment down the street I could go check.

Yeah, just stay away from anything that could get you into felonious trouble. Go change some oil or drink a beer a worry not about what someone else is doing.

I would. I heard the backhoe going up and down the street this morning, it's clearly never had any part of the track system lubricated at all. The most horrible metal on metal sound you've never heard. A company like that wouldn't care enough to put cameras in their machines, even if such a thing existed.

Although interestingly enough while I was snooping around the massive backhoe, there was a sound of some fan running in the engine compartment close to the cab. Makes me wonder what it is.

That.. would actually be funny. They come out to brand new shiny looking equipment. I'd love to see the look on their faces.

We have had construction going on in our new neighborhood's subdivision for 7 years now.

One neighbor took double-sided sticky tape and taped a toy monkey to the cab of a crane.

The next day, the monkey was staked to a cross at the new construction site.

What track system on a backhoe would you hear while it is going up and down the street? The only 'track' I can think of is the Backhoe slide. But that is rarely moved, and if it is then it is moved once and stays there for some time.

If the keys are left in the vehicle there is a chance the key is not turned to the full off position. This will leave the accessories running, such as the HVAC fan.

I wouldn't 'mess' with a piece of construction equipment. Would you like it if someone you did not know messed with your automobile?

Who hired these guys? Why would you want to mess with someone making your life better?

As opposed to a backhoe:

That would be nice. Or clean the windows...that would certainly put a smile on a face.
