I am the implier NHHEMI referred to.
I just posted what I have gotten out of each vehicle.
After having real trucks I found a Cruck will fit my needs just fine when wanting to down size.
Why the RL is always put up against full size trucks and not mid size?
I also love my RL!
Let's see how long this thread lasts.

One thing I noticed about these trucks is my OBS is both faster and gets better mileage than my uncles NBS.

Both are pretty much identical trucks, ie same drive line, similer options etc.

I thought it was weight so at the dump I scaled both trucks and his has about 300 pounds on mine.

Its a virtual continuation of the other thread that got locked.

Im doing my very very best to not offer any further opinion than i did on that one.

And i wont say who i believe is the most correct on the topic of FUEL ECONOMY, since we are still interjecting (subtly) our thoughts on the Ridgeline.

The other thread got...

This( i.e. the original and now this added together )is bordering on one of the most humorous BITOG threads ever I think.

1 - I never told you or anyone else what vehicle to like or not. Nor did I say the vehicle in question did not do what you personally needed it to do. To the contrary I said if you liked it and it does what you need it to then all the more power to you. Let's PLEASE keep it accurate. I respect people's rights to own, like, and drive what they want. That doesn't mean "I" have to like it though.

2 - You are BIAS "for" if you say a vehicle can do things it can't, it can do the same things other vehicles with higher ratings can, and you overlook and ignore the shortcomings/negative aspects of it( cost, MPG, etc... )just because you like it and own one. You are UNBIAS when you are honest about the limitations and negative aspects( whatever they are )of the vehicle. I am admittedly biased "against" it for many reasons.

3 - It is easy to see if you check the posting timeline( other thread )who started the "You'll eventually get slighted with rude comments and accusations...then you'll be accused of being personally insulting (I guess because you don't agree?)". Twern't me Mr. MaGee.

Rude comments and accusations imply comments directed at a person not a vehicle. My comments were about a vehicle( initially anyway ).

4 - You want to talk "real world"? Ok, let us do so...

A) - Vehicle A has a 5000 lbs towing capacity( mfg's data ). Vehicle B( 3 to choose from )can tow 8300-10,000 lbs( mfg's data ). Similar differences in hauling limits.
B) - EPA ratings. We all know MPG varies driver to driver. EPA ratings are a baseline for general comparison. MPG is a variable you can't control so you use the EPA ratings.
C) - Vehicle A seats 5 and the 3 vehicle B's seat 6.
D) - Vehicle A has 250HP vs the 3 vehicle B's w/315-390HP. Those are stock power #'s.
E) - Vehicle A vs the 3 vehicle B's MSRP. Like MPG variables rebates and what a dealer will do for a deal vary so all you can do in a discusiion is use similarly equipped vehicles( as I did )and then compare MSRP.

Now, let me ask this, how does any of these things above( which I used as reasons I would not buy vehicle A )change short of the owner modifying the vehicle in question in the "real world"? Simple, sincere, question.

4 - NO ONE said if you like vehicle A not to buy it. NO ONE said it didn't handle the needs you use(d) it for, and did/does so well, for you. I never once said anything you posted was false as far as "I towed such and such" or "I got XX MPG". To imply I did so in disingenuous of you.

I can go test drive one I guess? We have a dealer here in town and they actually have at least one of vehicle A on the lot. Even if I do though, at best, I end up saying nice ride or nice interior. That will not change my objections to it nor invalidate the negative points I have made about it. Neither is something I have talked about in a negative way. There is nothing driving one( or owning one )would do to alter my negative views as they are based on things( ability/performance/cost/MPG )you can't change "real world".

There is no need to see insults and slights where none exist. My comments have been about the vehicle itself NOT YOU. How about we put this to bed? You like vehicle A and it suits your needs. That is wonderful( serious ). Can we not also agree that vehicle A is in a vehicle class pretty much of it's own( a tweener so to speak )and that it falls short of the needs and wants of others? Is that not a fair and reasonable statement?

Let's be done with this foolishness.

I would hope the thread would stay open as long as people remain civil. I didn't see why the other one needed to be closed really as despite some minor arguments it was overall calm? Subjective call vs rule violations from what I saw but...?

Yes it was you w/ the Tundra MPG #'s BUT I didn't mean it in a bad way. Just saying how it came across and why I posted those Silverado #'s. Not all FS trucks get poor MPG. Your post seemed to indicate the Tundra MPG was typical for all FS trucks and it is not. I was also showing you don't have to downsize to get decent FS truck MPG.

Why compare it to a FS truck? For me it is because the cost of the vehicle in question is right there with a FS truck. Also, because Honda marketed it as such and many who own/like them try and group them into that class of vehicle. For me personally if I need a vehicle with truck like abilities, and I am going to pay FS truck price to buy one and get the same MPG out of it, then I am going to compare the vehicle to the FS trucks on the market. If you put the vehicle in question up against small trucks similar/equal ability, better MPG, and a lower purchase price can be had.

That is GREAT!

As I have repeatedly said if it works for you that is wonderful. That is not the issue though and not what I discussed. They don't work for everyone and they don't really offer anything special to set them apart. They off er small truck ability and performance for FS truck prices and MPG. Discussing the negatives and shortcomings is not saying they won't work for anyone.

Actually, I've been DONE with it since your PM message (of which I didn't even reply so as to allow things to cool. And in this thread I was replying to another poster....not you).
I'm not the one making long-winded posts nor have I been unable to drop the subject. You have continued your diatribe about why you feel the said vehicle is a 'joke'....or otherwise not worthy of consideration. That's fine. I honestly don't care about your opinion but I do care when I feel that inaccurate info is given out (and it was...I just don't care to take the time to paste your false statements here) about a vehicle that I, and a few others, have owned and have real experience with. You also make claims that I am 'biased' (meaning that I can't be objective) and that I ignore it's shortcomings (I have stated that it is unable to tow like a full-size pickup AND that it does not get great mpg's). But....it doesn't matter to you how honest I am about a vehicle I have owned....you've rather 'win' some silly argument that I am honestly lost on what your point is.
I'll tell you what....just to end this I'll say....you are 100% right. I only like said vehicle because I am biased and refuse to listen to reason. Said vehicle is a poor value and only a person that does not want a real truck would drive one. And you have been honest, friendly, and decent in this discussion.
Feel better now and can we end this?

To me, about me, whatever. No problem though let's consider it done. However, to be fair you are not exactly the poster child for friendly, polite, and civil discussions.
