As far as I'm concerned this was not your business. It's a police concern. At most I would have contacted the young person's parents, then maybe called the police. You're probably lucky you didn't get your azzz beat.

Well, I didn't do things like this when I was young. Of course, if I did, I would fully expect that a neighbor would have called the cops on me. That is a big reason why I didn't. I had goals and plans and followed them through. Amazingly, it has worked out rather well for me. My brother, on the other hand, did do this. Did have the cops called on them. Does live a very different life. I don't envy the "joy" of his youth over the fun I had in mine. And yes, I call the cops every time I see drug deals by my house or drinking in parked cars. If it is illegal, responsible citizens should report it. Neighborhoods get taken over if they are not.

IS this the world we live in? Am I suppose to be afraid of getting beat or shot by my neighbors BF in front of my own house?

Truly your trolling skills are better than mine by far, well done sir.

Open Container: It is against the law in Pennsylvania for drivers or their passengers to consume alcohol or possess an open container of alcohol on Pennsylvania roads.

So, the kids were breaking the law. In front of his house.

When did citizen's responsibility to report illegal activities become grounds for "getting shot", "getting your a### beat", and all the other criticisms of the OP in this thread?

What would you do if you saw someone breaking the law in front of your house? Ignore it? Pretend it's "none of your business"?

I don't think those choices are right either.

why start a lifelong feud over something that petty. It has to be a lot more serious than that before i involve the police.

A bit extreme taking pictures. [censored] if you do and [censored] if you don't it appears.

Glad to see that there are MANY other concerned citizens and neighbors that still give a [censored] about the quality of life in the community itself and are willing to act on it.

That would be totally useless unless we were drinking while we looked at said picture. And we all know what we're talking about.

There is a lot that could go wrong with creeping around a parked car on public property/curbside at 1am...

Overall I doubt much was accomplished past making a memorable (in not a good way) evening for a couple of young people and ensuring they will do their drinking (and whatever else was going down) somewhere out of sight of the "crazy neighbor"...

Creeping? WTH? My outside lights are on, plus the street lamp on a well lit place on the street.

You guys are really grasping at straws for this. I don't need permission to take a pic of someones plate. It is in the public domain.

You guys live in way to much fear...

Edit: The pic was mearly the "fear factor" can't argue with a pic of the plate. Extreme no, easiest way to find the right car in a sea of cookie cutter sedans is with the plate.

I had to drive a relative home from Christmas (no vehicle).

On the way back we had 3 or 4 runins with drunk drivers.

One person was driving, slowly, up the wrong side of the road. The other 3 were driving slowly and weaving all over the road.

Can't call the police. In my experience, police don't care what goes on if someone calls 911

What were your expectations from your original post? Support? Opinions?

Nice.

My expectations were mildly for support but I always like a healthy discussion.

I just don't live in fear like a fathom a majority do here.

Wife saw them when she let the dog out, full clear bottle in hand drinking from the neck. Dog made a beeline for the fence next to the car. Scared them both but she is harmless just loud. She comes in and tells me I grab my phone & shoes.

So you assume its alcohol? True it probably was but you don't know that for a fact.
First the dog is out there barking then here you come.

I head right up to the rear of the car and take a pic of the plate. Too washed out due to the outside lights on. I tell them in a jerk tone but I wanted to get my point across. Her BF catches me and gets some words out.

Think about what you did. You come up from the rear taking pictures and talking like a jerk (by your own admission) at 1 AM and you think the guy is supposed to say "oh yes sir" ? Put yourself in his shoes and how you would react, I did and I don't like it.

Now she has been in one car wreck already but I don't the know the circumstances. She was screwed up pretty good for a while. I just know her old car didn't return.

So she had a car wreck but you know absolutely none of the details? What are you assuming?

If my neighbors kid was in the car doing something in front of my house at 1AM I would just walk up to the car from the front and tell sally and boyfriend to take it in the house because if the cops come down they will get busted for sure.
I would not talk like a jerk and certainly not threaten them.

If I didn't know the kids I would just call the cops and say nothing to them.
Its not what you did that is wrong but IMHO how you did it. You just became the scourge of the neighborhood in those kids eyes.

Thermo1223, for what it's worth, I really think you don't need to spend any time or effort defending yourself from most of the accusations being hurled at you here. If what they're saying isn't intelligible to you, it's unlikely that your response would be intelligible to them.

Plus 1. Most things he says would be unintelligible to others. The guy clearly has issues that need resolved.

I am not going to tell her parents either, not my job. I just rather see her alive than consoling her mother on the day of the funeral.

Actually, I have a very Good friend, that's a state trooper in PA as a matter of fact. He once told me that is all hype about DUI checkpoints on the holidays. He said they would have to pay them time and half and no one wants to work on Christmas or New Years. It kills the budget. They run with a skeleton crew. Which made me think, Ive been out driving on New Years and Christmas and I really have never seen a Check point, while in PA or Florida. Regardless, if you are going to crucify this couple for drinks before driving. Load the camera for New Years and snap away at every bar and party.

Based on what? What "issues" do I have? Please Dr. Freud fix me.

He is right about one thing. I cannot to this day see how I set myself up for an "azzzz whooping" or "reason to be shot". Those things are completely unintelligible to me.
