No sorry, that previous post was directed towards this post, I thought I clicked quote, but I must have hit reply.

The wix filters are priced right around the Fram Ultra filters at walmart, but I probably wouldn't waste the $$$ if I were to do 1FCI with supertech, it would probably good for 3 FCIs with Supertech.

Exact opposite when I lived in Buffalo, everybody had a Cobalt/Cruze/Malibu/Impala.

Mostly Toyota and Honda down here for passenger cars.

I don't even know what the new Malibu looks like.

You live in Texas, 25% of the pickups sold in the USA are sold in Texas.

Walmart has a limited selection of oil filters.

Fram(EG, TG, and XG)
Purolator Classic
AC Delco
Motorcraft
Bosch
Mopar(limited selection)

I would pick up a Motorcraft filter if there were one that would fit the Malibu, I don't imagine a lot of Chevy drivers doing that though. But from my experience Motorcraft filters are a much higher quality than that of the tearolators.

For the Malibu you going to need a AC Delco PF64 for the oil filter. And you can't use the AC Delco PF48 or alternatives to the PF 48

. That was what a service advisor was telling a consumer one I had my vechicle In for warranty work

They might frown upon it but I am sure it wouldnt hurt a thing. Quickie lubes use downsized filters all the time.

The PH 48 IS THE CORRECT filter for the Malibu also, as we use those on our new Malibu's. Champion Labs # crosses to a PH 48.

The ACDelco filters at Walmart are the E-core type with the plastic center tube and the Purolator filters are always tearing. That leaves the Fram orange can and it's mostly cardboard inside. The only filter Walmart has worth buying is the Fram XG.

What's wrong with Bosch Distance+ ?

It's made by Mann/Hummel/Purolator.

I have no idea if it's prone to the Purolator tear situation. We've seen the tears show up in all kinds of Purolator filters, but primarily on Honda applications (such as mine).

Hi gabriel9766 - If you're looking to go the synthetic route in your new Malibu, you're in luck. We’re currently looking for consumers who are willing to test out making the switch to Pennzoil Synthetics. We would like to give you the opportunity to try out our latest full synthetic offerings and get some results/feedback on the oil’s performance from an independent testing facility. Please send us a private message if you're interested. Looking forward to hearing from you! - The Pennzoil Team

What does GM in Australia specify for a viscosity grade ?

Hi Merk,

Sorry for the delay, it was a little hard to track down the oil details.
However, I now have it:

"The Holden Malibu Petrol takes a Dexos 1 fully synthetic 5w 30 oil and it holds 4.7 litres"

Sounds fine to me.

Hi gabriel9766 - We just wanted to see how things are going with your Malibu and see if you'd like to take us up on our UOA program offer that we extended a few weeks ago. If you are interested in participating or want to know more, please send us a private message. Thanks! - The Pennzoil Team

I've been looking into this a bit more. In Australia we only get the 2.4L petrol engine, and GM Australia says run a Dexos 1 5W-30. This makes sense, as the only Dexos oils I have seen on shelfs here are 5W30 full synthetics.

However, reading the OM for a 2013 US Malibu, it states: "SAE 5W-30 is the best viscosity grade for the 2.0L L4 and 2.4L L4 engine. SAE 5W-20 is the best viscosity grade for the 2.5L L4 engine."

So the advice from GM Australia (Holden) and GM US (Chevy) is consistent.

Nice...good to know they are doing some testing here! Finding it interest since there be Pennzoil products going into, maybe two on my upcoming oil changes...

Think that will depend on how the car is driven. (how many highway/city)

And yes, it is harder on oil....

I can think of 3 at walmart: pure1, motorcraft, and fram ultra (all other fram oil filters are garbage)
